All things considered, I much rather run errands on a day off than a day on ;)

Am envious.
Working all weekend just as the mojo returns. Thought that I'd have an F4 cockpit sorted by now (though it's well on the way). No time to upload to photo skip and update though.

All going well, I'll get my Tornado ADV sprues all cleaned up and maybe start on some sub-assemblies while my little one is having his afternoon nap. LOOOONG time since I built a jet aircraft so not sure where I'll start!

A large increase in % terms for the stash or merely a footnote to an already massive treasure trove? :eeek:

The extent of my weekend accomplishments was putting together 3 drop tanks... Although saying that, I did spend a good amount of time on them, sanding out the joins etc.

1 - watched loads of sport
2 - painted and glossed my M10 in the I Heart Tamiya build
3 - played Star Wars battlefront on my new Xbox 1 - royally got my ass kicked but it was beautiful to look at

decoding that really means your saving up and desire is building and it will unexpectedly burst forth and be rationalized with the phrase " well I haven't bought anything for ages .... not really "   :cheers2: :cheers2:

Didn't get too much done myself after Friday night. Need to fix some paint on a spaceship, finish assembly on the HiAce interior, and get some base color on that F-4.

But when?

I might try this afternoon for some time, but that's iffy.

Man another day sucked up by house chores.
Busy getting my workshop space ready for plywood walls tomorrow
Painted the concrete floor in a crawl space with primer/ sealer, vacuumed all three floors, painted two vents black and re-installed them and we cleaned the office as well. Throw in a Home Depot and grocery shop and the day is gone.
Have to go do some office paperwork tonight in prep for tomorrow
No model time yet again

Well... last weekend's accomplishments: Friday night we went to Bath for the rugby, drank beer and Bath won  ; Saturday we met up with family and then went to hockey - Wildcats won  ; Sunday we met up with friends for a day out doing photography. So Life 3 - Building 0 on that one.

This weekend we're out at a gig in Birmingham tomorrow night, meeting up with friends for beer and curry on Saturday but Sunday... Sunday is mine... bwaahaaahhaaha! So hoping to get some serious time pounding my dalek for the sci-fi sig into some sort of shape.
Cheers, Neil

This weekend I'm hoping to get the cockpit and inside of the fuselage on my Corsair primed and get the base colour on (and depending on time a start on weathering)

And if the spare parts for my BF109 arrives I will glue the canopy on and prime and preshade it :)

I'm back flying again after a year off with having the pacemaker implant. Got checked out today and it was like riding a bike, just came straight back to me. Aso got checked out on a new club a/c, the Tecnam 2008 which is an amazing bit of kit, glass cockpit etc. Bit like going on to the bridge of the Enterprise when you first get in it.

Saw Ross Noble the other weekend who was great and I'm even finding time to do a bit of modelling! Been ultra busy the last few months.

Wedding ann tomorrow, 39 years of wedded bliss, or so my financial director tells me; so I'm off to Doncaster outlet in the morning to let her loose on whatever women buy these days and then I'm cooking garlic chicken for dinner. This then gives me moral rights to go aviating again on Sunday in the Tecnam with my mate... :cheers2:

Busy busy so far, but I was supposed to have tomorrow afternoon free and clear.

Enter 50mph winds and a power grid that goes down when an eagle farts. All my builds are at a stage that requires power in some way, and of course the light is gone for me by 6 these days.

Suppose if the power goes out I could start a new build...

You would think in this age we live in today that power would be a constant. Yet as critical as it is, power supply always seems to be so fragile. :(

Well this was something of a rarity - a weekend that more or less went to plan...

Friday evening despite the best efforts of work and the railways we managed to get to the NEC in Birmingham to see Nickelback which we thoroughly enjoyed; yesterday evening we met up with some friends that I've know for over 40 years - one of whom was over from the USA so we don't get to see him that often.

And then today the weather was good this afternoon so Mrs Tomcat was happy out in the garden while I managed to get some serious den time on the Sci Fi SIG Dalek.

And then to cap it all one of my photos came first out of 319 entries in a competition - so really happy with that and here's the shot (not model related) for anyone that's interested :)

Nice shot! But why are the back wheels doing the steering? Went to the airfield this morning, it was raining. Stayed for three hours chewing the fat with some mates waiting for it to clear up. It didn't. Decided to call it a day at noon. On the way home the clouds parted and it's been glorious since. That's flying. (Or more accurately, not flying). Got some more done on the Prosecco 190, nearly ready for buttoning it up. It's gone together really well so far, nice one HobbyBoss. Dentist in the morning, deep joy, then take back to Toys r Us the metal detector that I bought for my grandson yesterday that doesn't work, then I might get the garden winter ready if the rain holds off.

You would think in this age we live in today that power would be a constant. Yet as critical as it is, power supply always seems to be so fragile. :(
Investing in infrastructure in the US is soooo 1950...

Honestly, though, it has more to do with where I live; though the 100 foot tall firs and pines are beautiful, they have a knack for falling over in high winds.

So yesterday I had my first ever experience of using PE. Rudder pedals......nothing like jumping in with the fiddliest bit ever! Cut off too much of the original part at once point and had to build it up again using tiny bits of styrene, then nearly super-glued a brush to my desk, but eventually got something I'm proud of! Once I've done a bit more to the 'pit I'll post a photo on my Tornado thread.

One question - why is it so difficult to apply just a tiny dot of CA glue? It always seemed to come pouring out the applicator even without squeezing the bottle!

I put a dob on some wax paper then either use a tooth pick or just touch the part to the dob of glue then apply part to model.

Thanks Digger, you're a font of knowledge as usual! I'll have a look for some wax paper and try that method.

That's a FANTASTIC snap, Tom. Well earned kudos!

"I think I found your problem, sir. Your wheel is busted."
Thanks guys :) Yep looks like his Tracking was a little out :) any damage from the roll was probably polished out as I met up with him at another racetrack a couple of weeks later.

Avgas - many congratulations on your return to flight and hope you get back in the air again soon!

Lysus - did you get your power back or are you still working by candlelight?

And yes the Dalek has started becoming a little uncooperative but I guess that's its job!
Cheers, Neil

A gel based CA glue would be helpful too. More control and less chance of sticking the PE to various parts of one's anatomy.

PVA glue is good for PE as well, I've been using it on a super PE detailed 1/350 ship build I'm doing (very slowly)......it works a treat and gives you time to move things around if you get the placement wrong first time and you can use a damp brush to clean it up for a neat finish :th: .
