So I was out to a couple places that sell model kits in my area to see what new if any kits have showed up.. I spotted this little box on the shelf. I allways liked tall ships and allways wanted to build one so I picked it up. So I get it home open the box and but all the same I cant wait to get started on it Going to look around and see if there is any aftermarket parts for it. AND I was wondering if anyone on here has built one??? So here is couple pics off the box ill post pics off the LOTS AND LOTS of little parts that are inside later..

I also have this exact same kit given to me by a friend. he has the hull built already on it but had to give up due to a new baby in the family. I told him I would take it and complete it when I have the time. It may be a while before I do get to it. I was planning on finishing it with standing rigging without the sails because I just think a model ship always seems to look great when displayed that way. I have built a few tall ships in the past but usually build aircraft and have a few to get built before I can tackle this ship. It is a huge kit very impressive and highly detailed, definatley worth it for any ship lovers out there. I am certain you will enjoy building this one and I wish you all the best. I am hoping watching you build yours might just give me the kick I need to get me started on completing mine.

Well there is a couple off us with this kit maybe we will start at the same time ..I saw a few pics of it built with the sails up it looked nice and I was told by an old guy (that's been building models a long time) that its a lot less rigging to do with the sails up.. But I like it with the sails down more I think..

Not sure when I will be starting as I am getting ready to do some of the ISM group builds and I am currently working in conjunction on the F-15 Great Wall video build with Paul.

One thing i do like about this kit is it comes with the rat lines already molded and ready to apply to the masts, that alone can save many many hours of work having to build the rat lines yourself, and the hundreds of knots one has to tie

A few years ago I spent about a 8months building this model. It is an extremm;y challanging build. One area of caution is the decking. It does not fit very well around the gun walls. I found that here is a small gap. It is difficult to fill because of the wool texture on the plastic decking. I am getting ready to build another one of these, as my son decided it would be nice to knock this off of the display shelf it was on. It now has serious battle damage that cannot be repaired. I will be using this above deck and replacing the deadeyes with aftermarket ones (recommend using the samllest ones you can get) and replacing the block and tackels with aftermarket wood. The thread is good but I aill be looking at replacing this as well.

I have built Revell ships before but not the USS constitution. It's on my wish list.

I daresay their ships are better quality than their other subjects. That could just be because almost all the tall ships models are way old and it makes the Revell kits seem better and really stand out.

Well its been almost a year ago that i posted anything on this ship.. So here is some pis from then to now.
Here is the white painted and taped of adding some more parts and them ready it to be primed

Rigging is a real tester of patience, but painting all those tiny details are just wicked!

Glad you are keeping at it Rodney. I got this for Christmas but don't have the courage to build it for at least a year, after I have some easier floaties under my belt.

The Brits always thought we were unsporting about things re: Naval Architecture. According to them our frigates were overgunned. Also, they were more involved against the French during our little tiff with them.

I have built this kit a long long time ago. Actually twice. The first one got knocked off the table. I would not be much help because it was so long ago. But what I do remember is it is a very long build and not for the beginner which I was at the time. To me the hardest part will be the rigging. There is a lot of it and it takes a lot of patience. But I loved building it even though I didn't do a good job of it. I would build it again but have no place for it. There is lots and lots of delicate parts and lots of painting. I would suspect the group build will be a long one. But then again most people are better and faster than me. Looking forward to seeing the progress.

Looking great! I've built this a couple of times. Definitely not for the faint of heart. I will be building this again. Probably will start sometime this summer. I will be posting a build log on my blog. I've thought about using gold and copper leaf this time around. Additionally, I'll be using the USS Constitution official Naval Web site for reference. This grand old lady is still around and I hope she will be around many centuries to come.
