ISM Group build and SIGs for 2017

Post by Paul »

Nows your chance to suggest the GB's and SIGs for 2017, remember the more they are suggested the more chance they have of being picked so make sure your voice is heard, don't just read the thread and say nothing.

I think the idea is going around on the live hangouts... A Racing GB, which would include all racing vehicles, all competitions, all types of racing... Moto GP, F1, Nascar, Rally, WRC, Dakar, Le Mans, domestic competitions, everything... If there's a checkered flag, it's racing!!!

Royal Navy sig for me - ships, boats (inc subs), aircraft, helicopters etc perhaps with a theme of grey and white?

OK you sussed me - I'm a Navy, aircraft, dark sea grey and white fanatic praying above hope that Tanmodels Bucc gets issued before the sig starts :thumb1:

Yep typo

We've done the ww1 sig before, nearly 100 people voted for it as a long term sig and only 26 people took part :ooops:

for a SiG , one called 'Tank Hunters' , this could be both airplanes and tanks , specific for Anti Tank warfare , it could be a Stuka KannonVogel , a IL-2 Sturmovik , a Typhoon or a Thunderbolt in planes as example or a Jagdtiger, a Nashorn or an Elephant , also could have Anti Tank guns(88mm Flak from Germas or a 76mm ZIL from Russia), a PIAT team or a Bazzoka team ...think could be fun !

Also an Israeli Army Forces GB 'David Star' , you get a lot of AFV's and Planes to do on Israeli service from end of 2nd WW onwards

A 'Under the wrong Flag' SiG , captured vehicles and Airplanes !

A 'Day at the Races' GB , not horses :-) but all racing cars and racing motorbikes

North Africa and Mediterranean WWII GB

:cheers2:

Weeeeee! The best part of the year! It's like writing your first letter to Santa!

Rockets! (I haven't decided yet if movie rockets should be included. Rockets like were used in, say, 1950's space exploration movies.)

Star Wars. (because I have a few!)

Star Trek. (ditto)

Creatures / Monsters (ditto)

Gulf War

Another modern jet build like the F-16 - with a different plane, of course! I'm rather fond of the F-15.

Century Series fighters.

WW2 Fighters

Anything featured in a movie or TV show:
car, boat, plane, etc. but not military.

Carrier planes.

Military trucks or Jeeps. Any country - any era.

I can think of a few things I would like to see.

Space - anything with space involved, like shuttles, satellites and the apollo landings.

And if there just arent enough of kits for that kind of build, well, a spaced themed sci fi GB could work :)

How about something that represents your country ,or that was in use in your country. Anything from cars to ships.
Anything that flies your country's colours.
For example Im from RSA and we had the Mirage in our Airforce.Or the Nissan Skyline from Japan , Russian subs ect.

• Star trek.
• What if....
• Figure
• Battle of Monte Cassino. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Monte_Cassino
• Mamma Mia! (Italian vehicles during the WW2).

How about a "4 or More" GB.
Any AFV/Softskin from any country with '4 or More' wheels (no tracked vehicles allowed). You've got Jeeps, Kubelwagens, M8 Greyhounds, Opel Blitz, German 222, German 232....that's just a few from WWII. I think opening it up to any time frame would be even better as there are numerous really awesome 'wheeled' AFVs.

Tour of duty SIG.

Build any military stuff used during the Vietnam war. The conflict ran from 1 November 1955 untill the fall of Saigon on 30 April 1975.
The North Vietnamese government and the Viet Cong were fighting to reunify Vietnam. They viewed the conflict as a colonial war and a continuation of the First Indochina War against forces from France and later on the U.S

So one can build Russian, French or American jets, tanks, trucks deployed during this period. Also would be great for Diorama builds as well.

Procrastination Group build ( we all have a stash and in that stash we have something we were all about building but now it's been years and that box is still sitting there....).

Tiger tank build - they are popular, that's all.

Oriental build - so we can build anything from the orient - PRC, Korea, Japan, SE Asia or whatever.

Non-major (you know what I mean) Participation WWII Build - nothing from UK, USA, Japan, Germany, or USSR...

The only problem I foresee is further procrastination about which procrastination build to build if you get my meaning? Excellent idea though.

I think this would be a neat idea. Anything armor related but converted to civilian use. No camo or flat paint allowed, LOL! Call it "No more Military"

Ok, so for me:

- The Post Apocalypse Build (which I'm doing either way, GB on the forum or Ivan's group on fb--kits are on the way!)

- The racer build. I'd say include demonstration teams, too. Like Red Arrows or Blue Angels, might open it up to a wider build audience and make for a lot of colorful builds.

- I like the procrastination theme, though how to monitor what qualifies could be tricky I think it would be fun to watch folks dig into the stash for something they put off or are reluctant to build.

- I second the "captured" theme, though maybe allow what-ifs since real world subjects might be harder to come by.

- Something BIG, something small: Either 1/32 or bigger or 1/100 or smaller...maybe at the same time? I dunno, just spit-balling here. Or maybe even anything BUT 1/24. 1/35, 1/48, 1/72?

Seeing as it was the 100 year anniversary recently maybe something to commemorate tanks - not just the male and female British tanks of WW1, but maybe something around the development of the tank (maybe three separate builds of tanks that provided some kind of innovation in the tank's development)

Not that I could contribute much to it as I know nothing about tanks and have never build one - I just thought it might be a good idea and possibly fitting :) Probably a little ambitious though

How about a Battle Build Sig or GB.

For example the Battle of North Africa or the Battle of Britain, Battle for Midway etc.
Can also be a WW1 Battle like the Battle for Verdun or
for boat lovers Sink the Bismarck.

Would have to research to find what was used during those battles.

Nightfighter build, any era.

VTOL aircraft.

Well i would like to suggest the following
Heavy metal : a sig about heavy tanks

Not your usuall suspects : a sig with anything that is less known or not the most popular subject either planes trains or afv's

The big guns : any big gun used for air/coastal defence or artillery

Little people : figures and busts either military ,historical or fantasy/sci-fi

The hunter and the prey : adversaries basicly 2 vehicles or planes or even ships but atleast one has to be a tank/fighter aircraft and the other the prey (example a HE-111 and a Spitfire or a Jagdtiger and Sherman or a submarine and destroyer or whatever was used to hunt subs or the other way around)

Raw power : any plane with 2 engines or more ,this could include fighters/interceptors and transport planes

Small can be good : the goal is to make a vignette
So no big planes or tanks but a single or couple of figures on a small dio with or without a small vehicle like a jeep or kubelwagen
Maybe a size limit would be usefull like , let's 15x15 cm or 6x6 inches

Bring out the detail : the goal would be to encourage the use of a or multiple upgrade sets in the form of resin , photo etch or other upgrade stuff
This does mean it can be in the box like you see with Eduard's profi packs
As long as the parts add more or better detail then the standard styrene parts do

And now i ran out of ideas

Thought I would throw in my 10 pence worth.

" Bring out the big guns ", Any Flak or howitzer or surface to air missile, rocket launcher used during 1st , 2nd or modern era.
" World wide racing " Any genre of racing found around the world...i.e Moto gp, formula 1, nascar, Paris Dakar, world rally championship, GT3

And another suggestion maybe for a long term SIG/GB, and for the much more talented modellers than myself.

" Diorama dreams ", A diorama of any genre of the modellers choice. A perfect place to show off your talents, or just to give it a go.
Always apologies to the wife.....sorry love.....sorry ....sorry

Here is my addition to the stash of great ideas.

- a racing gb/sig (all or related to a racing event)
- a movie or videogame related gb/sig
- and the last a what if/concept kitbash gb/sig... build something futuristic like a car, jet, bike. Ideas around the year 2050/2075

A Hawker Hurricane SIG. Why? Cos I love it, that's why!

A shot down or knocked out SIG. Aircraft and AFV dioramas showing crashed aircraft or knocked out / abandoned tanks

Airfix 1/48 WW2 SIG

A Mighty Eighth SIG

A Bomber Command SIG

A Luftwaffe 43/45 Home Defence SIG

A Bandai Star Wars SIG

A Dragon Star Wars SIG - if they ever release any Star Wars kits!

A Death by Decal SIG - any modern jet with over 100 decals - just for those of us who aren't border line bonkers already :bash:
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

A Christmas SIG would be fun too.
Any build as long as it has something Christmas added.

Destiny Fulfilled - Build the oldest kit you can find. (It would be a shame for them to never be built!)
