Italeri Willys MB Jeep w/Trailer 1:35

Post by chops1sc »

I picked up this kit a few weeks ago. I have always liked the Willys Jeep.

Image

Looks like a pretty simple build. The sprues have some flashing and pin marks, but nothing horrible. The instructions are ok. Not too many steps and they are fairly easy to follow.

Image

The body, chassis, and trailer are assembled. I left out the radiator because I want to paint it after the main body is painted. The hood, wheels, and window frame will also be painted separately. I am not sure how much weathering I will be adding. I want to look at some reference pictures before deciding.

The kit came with 3 figures but I wont be including them with the build. What do y'all think so far? Any tips/tricks to suggest?

Nice so far! That is the same kit that came with my LCVP kit that I built for the WWII GB. I'm still working on the jeep here in this forum. :th:

This is one of the two willy's that Im using for a Bastogne vignette that I'm working on. It's a bit less of a kit than the tamiya, but it builds up fine with a bit of work as you've just shown.
A bit of sand and fill poof! A willys jeep.
I'll look forward to how she turns out for you.

LOL! So yeah, took a little break and finally got back to work on this Willys Jeep!

I pretty much finished the assembly and did a little dry brushing on the seats. I also set up some equipment in the back very casually.

I think the seats might need a little more yellow tint to them. I still plan on adding some mud/dirt effects as well ans scratch building some crates for the trailer.

Hopefully 2 years won't pass before the next update, LOL!

I watched Coen's "Snot rag tarp" video the other day and I figured I would try it on the trailer. I made some fake crates (only the lids) and followed his directions and so fat it's turning out great!

I might have to replace the rope since I used some elastic I had laying around. I'll have to see how it takes the paint.

So I'm calling this one done. I am pleased with how it turned out and I can't wait to display it once I get my shelves built. Thanks for looking!

Thank you!

It's not a bad kit but there were a few things I would have liked to see different. The engine detail was on the low end and the clear windows made it look out of scale which is why I left them out. It did come with figures but I'm still honing that skill, lol!
