Help with build

Hi I'm building a D-Day beach/bunker diorama, I'm putting in fortifiction line's of dragon teeth can someone tell me was it just the British that had a steel U lifting ring in the top only some had them or did the German ones have them to,I'm pretty sure I've seen pic but not 100%,any info/input welcomed.

Hey Pete

The only pics I could find with rings were of British ones. One thing I did spot was some of the German ones had wood planking marks on them which may mean they were poured on location rather than in factories using moulds. That might make sense given how much concrete was being poured at the beach locations using the same method. Just drop the frame down, pour it and its job done, no need to move it afterwards?

Germany used/recycled many other AT obstacles from other nation Poland, Belgium, to name a few.
How far up the beach do you want to do and tide low or high as these questions will give a great indication what obstacles you will need to show.

Hey I was right! Well pleased with myself

I've seen those wooden pouring marks all over a gun battery emplacement a few miles inland from Utah Beach. The battery was reclaimed from the undergrowth a few years ago and is now well worth a visit. It was certainly built to house very large calibre weapons, the two main casements are far larger than anything seen at Point Du Hoc or Merville which are much more famous.

This is one of the two main casements, the US Army Corps of engineers practiced demolition on it after the fighting had moved inland. They only managed to cave the rear end in!





Talk about perfectly placed, you can just about see the water off Utah in the second pic.

They certainly are. I've got a nice (although a bit old now) Canon digital SLR so I just snap away when on trips and then keep the pics on my laptop or on disks.

They certainly are. I've got a nice (although a bit old now) Canon digital SLR so I just snap away when on trips and then keep the pics on my laptop or on disks.

My good lady works for Canon UK,Surrey and guess what I don't own a camera , just a camera phone
