Modelling Project for 2017.

This will be my First model Build for ISM. This project was designed back in 2004, due to life it is now only coming to fruition in fact only getting some parts this Xmas. It was always my plan having this project started here since I joined, even though the Tamiya build interested me greatly but every time I started a kit I could not resist but add some small details even if it was just replacing grab rails.

The first kit that I will start with was actually the First 1/35th kit (before this Braille scale modeller)I ever built back in the 80’s and was the only Australian Armour kit being made back then. It was in fact this kits Update set I actually got this Xmas even though it has been available for some years now. Builds will be done side by side until I work out which vehicles will be built in what manner which is dependent on many factors of which there are too many to list. This project will also be done along with other Model projects that will interest me including Group/Sig builds on this forum. No end time frame for this build is set so I am not in Rush nor allow frustrations become an issue.

Australian M113 Family

I will be using kits from Tamiya, AFV and Academy with aftermarket supplies from Mouse Armour, Firestorm, Aussie Armour and scratch building and casting. I will review all products being used including two sets of paints said to be for Aussie armour one set is enamel and the other Acrylic. Decals from different sources along with stencils by Austencil.

Australian M113’s have been employed by armoured and mechanized units in Vietnam, Rwanda, Somalia and East Timor.

• M113A1, T50 turret
• M113A1, T50 turret mine roller

Along with the list above 1 vehicle will be modelled in each of the 4 eras mentioned above, other vehicles may also be done in different eras or with notable modifications including possibly 1 of test variants. Some will show interiors some will be in diorama like poses all vehicle will become 1 display of the variations used up to the upgraded lengthened M113AS4 Armoured Personnel Carrier.

As for references I will use internet searches and personal photo collection along with books specific to Aussie M113.
