Wings light

Post by Garion77 »

How do you do the lights at the end of each wing on a wwii plane ? Just paint a clear color like the instructins calls for ? Doesn't seem like it's going to do a good job...

If it's a transparency that you're painting then yes, just slap some clear paint on. Sometimes the light is moulded on in the same plastic as the rest of the wing, then I find a solid colour more effective.

There's no clear parts for it

Try a solid colour then, clear paint only shows up well on transparencies.

You can also use a silver or aluminium colour underneath the clear colour if the part you need to paint is molded in. That way the silver shines through the clear and look a bit more like a light than just painting in a solid colour.

You can paint them silver first, then got over the silver with clear colours
Thats what I did on my phantom build

That would work with PVA as well wouldn't it?

I believe so, however the PVA will not "Dome" as much, but then it depends what the real covers looked like I think. Many were flat lenses or covers in which case PVA would I think be even better.
