M4A3 Sherman 105mm Howitzer 1-35

Hello all, and welcome to another build by yours truly.

I've gotten back to the bench these past few weeks after an unfortunate hiatus, and it has been highly rewarding. I had started Tamiya's M4A3 Sherman 105 kit back in August, hoping to enter it into the I Heart Tamiya GB, but that plan did not work out. I got into it last week and I realized that I wanted to take pictures of the process and post them in a build, but I had already done all of the assembly.

Here are all the assembled parts, ready to be primed. I decided to leave the wheel assemblies off until later.



This was the first time I had tried doing my on sponsons to make the kit more realistic. I cut them out of the card that had come in my last dress shirt. Not a fantastic option, sheet styrene would have been better, but I didn't have any around.



I have already painted the commander figure that came with the kit. It's actually not that bad for Tamiya's add-on figures. I chose this figure because his binoculars hide my pathetic attempt at giving him a face.





I primed it all last night with Ultimate Black Primer; excellent stuff, by the way.



For the final product I'm looking at one of the suggested kit versions, in basic olive drab. More on this at a later date. Cheers!
