For what its worth Im using Photobucket. Others seem to have had issues with it, but touch wood I haven't had any yet

I prefer Photobucket. The mobile app seems to be more user-friendly as far as posting with my phone compared to flickr. However, if PB is down I will use Flickr.

Flickr, and that's a total no-brainer. Do a simple search of this forum (or any other) using the terms "Flickr" and "Photobucket" and all you'll find are threads dealing with complaints about Photobucket! It's so prevalent, it makes you wonder why anyone would stick with using Photobucket. Flickr, on the other hand, just keeps working without issues.

I used to use Photobucket but it got so that I was pulling my hair out, "photobucket is not responding", having to restart the programme all the time, wouldn't even load one photo.
Since I started to use my Flickr account, no problems, plus you get 1TB of free storage, as has been said No Brainer.

PB's fine unless you look at it sideways! It also copes better with smaller pics than larger ones.

Its like a badly run bank. They rely on their customers' willingness to accept poor service because moving providers is too much hassle.

I opened a flicker account about a month ago to host my pictures, got fed up with how slow Bucket had got.

It's been working fine until today, the edit it feature has disappeared from the edit menu all I've now got is, rotate, replace and delete. Is this some feature of the site that allows you to edit and then after a short while turns it off to make you subscribe?

Apparently the editor is being updated or so the message that comes up now. They give no time when it will be complete oh well back to photobucket!

Yes Exactly - here's something I posted previously which shows how I use it.

In Flickr open your picture up and click on share (it's the small curved arrow icon in the bottom right if you didn't see it already)

Select BB Code and copy the string.

You can just paste the string into your post on ISM, but I tend to truncate it after the first [ / url ] string (I've inserted spaces so the site doesn't try to interpret it)

So for an example here's one of mine from yesterday - again I've inserted spaces so you can see where I edit the code line:

I've not used photobucket so don't know how they compare speed-wise but I would say that I only use Flickr as a repository, all my editing/resizing is done prior to uploading.

I am the opposite...just signed on Flickr and bugger if I can figure how to make albums and organize stuff

To be honest I'm not surprised - when I first started using it a few years back I had two major gripes with it:
1. They forced me to sign up to Yahoo - I'm perfectly capable of losing my own data, I don't need their help
2. The interface is not exactly intuitive
oh and
2.5 when I finally figured the interface they changed it!

If you're still willing to do battle there's a couple of ways of organising things.

If you've already uploaded photos then click on YOU->Photostream and there's a "More..." option on the right hand side of the tool bar in the middle of the screen. Click on the drop down and "Organise" is the last but one option - why it's buried down there I have no idea. There's an albums tab in there which will let you create new albums and drag and drop photos from your photostream into them and also reorder them within the album.

Second option is when you're uploading new photos you've got the option to "Add to Album" on the tool bar on the left hand side; this lets you add photos to an existing album or create a new album.

I'm having alsorts of issues with bucket

When I try to up load from my phone it takes an age and tells me it's up loading 4 of 1 I've even had 20 of 1! Flicker isn't much better it takes an age to up load and their photo editor doesn't work anymore!

I use photo bucket its very slow and anoying but am not good on a computor so stick with it from what i hear flecker is better

I would be surprised to see the company last a month more. Even folks who paid a yearly fee for more storage are getting the same treatment as a freeloader like me...that would have been $240 wasted to them for the $20/month extra storage fee.
They need to be nuked

I did wonder if a sudden influx of ex photo-bucket users from all over the world might put a strain on their resources.

Now its working again. Maybe its just me and having to figure out how to do stuff. There seems to be several ways to upload pics..... I'll take it as a win and make hay while the sun shines

Yep I only had six to upload earlier and did them one at a time - had a look around the web and seemed to be a world-wide issue so probably ran out of resources somewhere.

Does anyone know if when using flicker to upload photos, can you do it from a mobile device (ipad, mobile phone etc) or does it need to be done from a pc??

You can upload photos to your Flickr account from your mobile device, but you can't get the bbcode to post it to the forum from there. You need to be on a PC for that.

Yeah I can't get it on my phone or tablet, but they are both samsung at the moment.
Changing jobs next month so maybe the new phone and tablet will be apple products which might make it easier

Have seen pictures loaded from Photobucket on a number of sites with a great big grey watermark partially obliterating the picture, so what is the point of using them if your pictures will be partially spoilt? Was there an issue a little while ago where they simply blanked out many pictures on different sites? Anyone know the reason for that?

Don't know we all left PB some time ago after losing all our pic's. I suspect you have to join and pay for the privilege of good pic's.
Imgur or Flickr are popular as you get a free account for the first 1000 pic's and no watermarks.
