Lighting for Bench Vent 300S

Post by OneSmallStep1966 »

I found that with the Bench Vent 300S spray shield installed the lighting around the model being sprayed was insufficient (for my eyes anyway), so my solution was to purchase 2 x V-TAC 10W Slim LED Flood Lights from CPC (just £7.13 each) and proceeded with the following modification.

I simply cut out two holes in the top of the spray shield...

... and used some self adhesive trunking as a fixing point for the lamps and for wire containment.

Now the entire area inside the spray shield is perfectly illuminated :th:

I also found another up-side in doing this. With the addition of some plasticard, it doubles up as a great photo booth.

Nice improvement. I'll have to watch for some of these LED floodlights.

They are LED lamps, so they don't get hot at all (very important, hot lamps might cause the paint to dry before it hits the model and would probably melt the Bench Vent spray shield too).

Nice. I may get a pair of those just for overhead bench lighting.
Enjoy your modelling.

Great work there, super modification
Were they pre-wired or did you do some yourself????
Great light, relatively cheap, safe with low heat output and double use spray/photo booth ....ALL AWESOME!!!

LED's now are really amazing....I have a new LED flashlight that just blows me away on the bright setting
I cannot find anything like those in Canada so far :

They were pre-wired with approx 10" tails, so all I had to do was connect them together with block

I watched a video on wiring these babies up to a plug
Bit of a doofy video, but shows what is what inside those units off eBay and the differences with Europe/Asia and North America wire colours
I would not solder the wires together btw like the kid did, better use wire nuts IMHO
