Posting on Facebook

Post by Stokesy44 »

Hi Guys

I want to post my work on the ISM Facebook page but when I do the post appears on my own page too. I'm new to Facebook so I don't know if this can be avoided or not.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

David

It shouldn't as the page is closed so only members can read whats on there.

Your privacy settings will allow you to hide certain things but by the nature of social media its sharing it for a reason.

Trying to avoid Facebook myself, just too many stories of drama and problems...but you guys are tempting me with all the ISM stuff going on there
Someone described on the live show about only being able to have "so many oars in the water"...ie you get so busy trying to keep up with all the social media outlets you go bonkers; twitter Facebook; Instagram.....
So for now:

 A cool way to make a good point :th:

I don't know what Instagram does and I'm not on Twitter, I cant see the point of it. For me the clue's in the name.

Facebook seems kind of cool - provided you use it wisely - but I take your point about drama. It seems tailor made for the kind of unfiltered spewing that people indulge in when they're not face to face.

Take it lightly and it can be fun. For anything else, there are better ways to communicate.

I just like posting those star wars photos
Completely agree with your point
I am also super adverse to conflict and overdramatic BS..so have been told to avoid Facebook like the plague
ISM might make me change me mind

Just my 2 cents worth, I will not join Facebook. I intensely dislike the hypocrite who runs that outfit and the ruse he/they run, for massive profit, of data collection of those who sign up - this is their primary goal. This goes for all so-called 'social media' - why should I have to 'share' anything simply because it's deemed 'social media'? I'm a huge fan of ISM and Ultimate products, but will not support a Facebook presence. It seems the Youtube focus (requiring no sign up and personal info) has shifted to the Tue and Fri Live Shows - and away from the At the Bench, Reviews, News, Builds, tutorials, etc. - the very things that initially attracted me to the group (not withstanding the show most recently posted). I realize there have been some recent issues impacting things, but hope that the focus shifts back to a broader scope of topics. I don't know what's going on in the ISM Facebook page (I can't access unless I join), so maybe there's more relevant info being posted there. Sorry for the rant, I'm a huge fan of ISM and Ultimate, but just wanted to express an alternative view. No harm or insult intended.

Not a fan of facebook so I don't use it other than tracking down kits for sale. I do prefer ISM forums.

Its a bit like the forum - an oasis of calm (for the most part) amid the poo-pile that is most of the internet. One of the nice things about the page is its linear. People post WIP pics and raise issues all in one place so you just scroll down and a get a to see all sorts of different stuff. You're free to comment, like or join the discussion. I love the forum for the way its set up, the GBs, the SIGs and all the different sections but the FB page has its attractions too.

Like the forum its open to abuse but Sergeant Majors Paul, Lee and the others are not afraid to get their rubber truncheons out when they need too. :bash:

Don't be put off by the fact that its Facebook. I'm a recent convert so perhaps I've got a bit of beginner's zeal about my opinion but hey, at the end of the day its still a place where crazy modellers post very cool pics and jaw about things only said crazy people are interested in
