Well, it's been awhile since I've posted. I didn't really do much modelling this winter because of life issues. But, I recently saw a review of this kit and decided to give it a go. It's a brilliant kit. But just like the Phantom, Eduard's instructions have a couple of mistakes in them. They don't tell you to drill holes for the fuel tank racks on the intakes. Also, the instructions for the landing gear are a little confusing. Part F-38 has an opposite part that needs to be glued on the opposite side. It's F-27. It's not marked in the instructions and easy to miss.

Other than that though, it's going pretty smoothly. The cockpit is amazing. Also, I put pins in the hatches over the gattling gun so they are removable. They are only held in place with double stick tape for now.

Also, I highly recommend cutting notches in the rings that are on the wings. It makes them removable and greatly helps in painting and assembly.

The photo etch is tiny, but I've had very little trouble with it. The exhaust PE is delicate and takes time to get it right. but it works pretty well. Each of the ejection seats took about 5 hours each. The cockpit took about 15 to 20 hours. But it's worth it. I'm about 80 to 90 hours in at this point.

It's painted in Mr. Color. Also future has been used and I put a grunge/pin wash on it thus far. I'm currently assembling the landing gear.

Decals are a breeze with this one. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the pictures. I hope to finish it in the next couple of weeks. A lot of work is still to be done. This baby is a blast.

Looking good. I just bought the Hobby Boss F-14D kit, looking forward to getting going with it. I might need to do another one or two "less expensive" kits before I tackle it though haha.

Thanks for the comment!! It's actually a very straight forward build. The cockpit is probably the most demanding part of it. But if you are half way decent at photo etch it will go together nicely. It's amazing when it's done, but dealing with all those tiny parts is probably my least favorite part of a build like this. The cockpit alone took about 20 hours or so. The ejector seats are the hardest part of it.

Thank you for the comment. I built that kit about a year ago. It's in the gallery section if you can find it. It's a fun kit. It's not without it's issues. It gives you the most bang for your buck. However, from what I've read the Tamiya kit is less finicky. I hope your build goes well.
