90mm Roman Signifer

Finished this Roman Signifer by Pegaso some time ago. Used a mix of acrylics, glazes and oils. Shield motif was done freehand; I thought the fangs on the lion pelt were a bit long so I filed them down a little; there were also gaps in the mane's casting which needed a lot of green stuff to fill. Photos wash out some of the gradation so pardon the so-so quality. This soldier would have been active in the 1st century AD and were selected for their bravery and experience to carry the unit standard. I chose to represent the 30th Legion which saw action in Dacia (modern Romania) and is depicted on Trajan's column in Rome. For some reason they were also the legion's treasurer. Hope you like.
