Air Compressor Which to Buy?

Post by Warren »

Gentlemen,
I am looking to buy an air compressor for painting models. This would be my first. I have noted the PAACHE D3000R which has an air tank, air pressure regulator, moisture trap and has a low noise level of 47 DBS. The HP is 1/8. However it rates its PSI at 20-30.
Would I need more than 30 psi? In Amazon this model lists at US$136.
The other air compressor I looked at was the IWATA Studio Series Power Jet with a 1/6 HP and all the bells and whistles but the price is US$467!

I intend to use the compressor for painting models only.

Is the Paache D3000R adequate, or do I need to get into the expensive IWATA?

Thanks.
Warren

PS I have a large industrial air compressor in my garage, but I decided not to use it for painting models.

check the spec's for actual air consumption of the bushes and compare to the actual air produced by either.
I would just run a copper line from your large compressor assuming it is electric with auto shut off.

it has to be able to keep up to the AB or it cannot maintain pressure !

sounds like a winner to me.... its not a 400$ set up but for a starter A/B compressor...
should fill the gap really well till he needs bigger guns !
