Using an Italeri M60 Blazer to make an U.S. M60A3/A1?

Post by TheNordus »

I just watched the movie "The Beast of War" and I've been playing Operation Flashpoint (or ARMA Cold War Assault) lately and after driving around in the M60 in-game I got an impetus to build all the "important" Cold War tanks such as the T-62, Chieftain, Leopard 1 and the M60. I've got all the others on order except the M60 since none of the Finnish stores I could find had any in stock, but I was wondering if you could build an accurate (at least compared to the Tamiya version) U.S. M60 out of the Italeri M60 Blazer Kit just by changing the decals and leaving off the ERA and extra machine guns?

Sorry to say , but you need some else with expertise for this question. A quick check on wiki shows the turret rack as being different on the Israeli blazer plus the m60 has that top secondary turret where the blazer doesn't. So you would need a cupola with gun.
Hope I got that right or even close.

Actually from a bit of researching I did, the kit already comes with some parts for the huge machine gun cupola, but that the U.S. also started using the "israeli style" low cupola without the machine gun in late production M60A3s. Unfortunately my research skills are rather limited so I don't think I can find all the differences by myself. Cheers for the reply though!
