Sharpies T90S by Trumpeter

Did anyone think i would miss out on aT90 build? Probably not, i will be building this straight out of the box, built several similar variants by trumpeter so i know that this kit is a dream to build. I was thinking of doing a review but there are plenty out there already and with the parts count it would have been a long video.
Here are the obligatory box and sprue shots along with my first days progress.

How do you find all those little photo-etch Neutron blanket "Fasteners" how tedious did you or do you find them to cut and put on ???

It is the kind of thing i enjoy Norm, with the right tools it doesn't take long at all really, about an hour to put the 93 of them on the turret. Ultimate wax pick up pencils are the ultimate tool for this kind of thing. Thanks Andreas, you knew you could count on me to join this build lol.

After a couple more days building the lower hull is complete and it's time to move on to the turret, again all oob and no filler or fit issues to sort. Don't let the parts count or pe worry you the trumpeter T90s are 10/10 kits.

I've got this kit in my stash and a few other Russia/Soviet MBTs. They are smaller and more compact than your average NATO MBT I know they're often below para too I mean who puts a fuel storage system on the outside but they run forever and they do look good.

That said there latest T-14 appears to have caught up somewhat. Looking forward to GE build mate.

Extra fuel tanks on the outside makes sense, if its hit and catches fire its outside the tank and not inside!

Turret finished and other than a couple of minutes with sander and buffer on the barrel everything went together perfectly, also a couple of shots of the turret on the tank, next up is primer and base coat.

Looks stunning mate. Loving all that surface detail. Fantastic all the stuff bolted on to the turret, a painting and weathering dream me thinks.

Also, after 80 years of tank evolution it makes me smile seeing how the Ruskies still carry their fuel in external drums, you can almost hear the designers saying, 'it worked on the T34, why change it' Brilliant low tech solution.

Not really easiest way to knock out a MBT is fire, fuel be it petrol or diesel tends to find its way into things, like the engine compartment. Which will if large enough disabled the tank.

Lol, thanks guys and Ivan, after a good coat of Ultimate black primer it was onto base painting in this case a mix of tamiya dunkelgelb and buff for the sandy colour then hull red, brown and buff for the reddy brown camo. Tracks were painted as per my "how i do" track painting video.
