Iwata Custom Micron CM-C Plus

Hi All

Bought the above airbrush the other day and have given a whirl today and seem to be struggling with it.

The problem I'm having is the paint appears to be building up at the tip of the airbrush which then in turn makes the paint start to splatter. It's not my first airbrush as I have a Iwata Revolution TR which I have never had this problem with.

The build up gets that bad I'm having strip the front of the airbrush down and clean it about 2-3 minutes of use.

I'm mixing the paint the same ratio as I always have and I'm running the compressor at around 24 psi.

Any tips on what I can try, I know this maybe a daft question but I'm struggling to resolve it.

Have you tried to thin it more and reduce air pressure to 15

Your suggest helped digger303 but problem still occurred after a while then I found that the regulator on the compressor was playing up making the pressure at the gun drop to low.

Had a fiddle with it and all appears to be good now.

always keep a wet paint brush near by; dipped in a solvent compatible with your paint and thinner... (water or others ) while keeping an eye on your A/B tip.. run over the needle with the wet paint brush... or Q-tip from time to time to gently clean it off ....

not all paints do this but .... mostly acrylics, you will build a habit of doing it... and Welcome to airbrushing !

after adjusting your mixture ratio and other parameters... if that is still happening ? then the paint brush tip will come in handy !

With a combined cost of £74 for the needle and nozzle for this airbrush, i would advice not cleaning the tip with anything at all to reduce the risk of damage.

I half fill a small cup with some Ultimate airbrush cleaner and if i get some tip drying i put the needle tip int he clean and give it a quick slash of air and paint. wipe of the airbrush and away you go again.

I'll give the cup of Ultimate airbrush cleaner a try as the paint seems to gathering on the end of the nozzle which then splatters onto the model rather then the needle tip having dry paint on it.

Want to get it working ok as I have just got a 1/32 A10 Thunderbolt to do (first large scale plane I've built) and want to use this airbrush for all the shading and camo.
