Meng Models

Post by Steveo535 »

Hi All

Just wondered what you guys think to Meng Models I have in the past only built Tamiya and Accurate Armour but I am looking at one of the Meng armoured bulldozers.

Cheers in advance Steven.

Heard nothing but good things in general about Meng and great build reviews on their 'dozers.
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

The D9R from Meng is a big kit ! either with or with out the Cage Armour offering.
Most of the kit will fit nicely ! almost like a Tamiya... but some seam will need carful sanding
and maybe small amount of filler.... The Tracks can be daunting to assemble for some modelers... and I heard they now
offer a new tooling of that said track...

The Inside panels of the cabin have some Ejector pin marks that can be difficult to fill or sand ( it can be done )

The offering of Pre-Tinted armored glass or clear glass is a nice touch from them ! I enjoyed my build althou never fully finished
weathering it... I plan to revisit it eventually ! and I would buy another one...

take care.

I've only heard bad comments about two of their kits: The Renault FT and the T-72b3
And I've built and painted other two: The Whippet and the Leopard 1A5. Both are amazing kits. No complaints at all

The T-72b3 is a superb kit IMO and the FT is good but very fiddly. I have seen bad comments about the FT but not the T-72. I would say 95% of Meng's armour kits are hugely well received. I have over a dozen in the stash and have built only a couple but they are close to replacing Dragon as my favourite manufacturer. Takom is getting up there too. It is a golden age for modelling.

Can only comment on one Meng kit and that was the T-72, I found it fantastic, great detail, great fit, great accuracy (as far as I could tell), and no flash or unsightly pin marks etc

I thought the FT17 was a great kit, I had no build issues at all.

Meng models are great. I've never had any problems and they look cool.
