Aoshima 1/24 TE71 Corolla (Early Type)

Post by MichaelsModels »

Hello

Long time reader first time build poster

This kits was very low on my going to build list but it moved to the top in the last week.
Reasons being I haven't built much in the last couple of years so thought a curbside kit would be a nice ease back in. Plus with still being off work healing from my ankle surgery's in June money is a little bit tighter and I happen to have every paint that I will need for this build.

As a full size vehicle I do like it in white like the box art but I will be changing it from the early twin headlamp setup to the later single setup version. Both versions are in the kit as Aoshima also re-box it as a later version.

Why single headlamp..... like it more lol :)

Really won't to keep on a role and see this finished sooner rather than later.... not my normal style

Very nicely detailed body and very little clean up needed.

Bum detail

Like the body more parts with a good level of detail.

Not using much from this image. Just the black wheels and the smaller chrome parts

Nice to see a kit with a texture on the seats.

The sprue tag to the main screens was just about ripping off still in the bag. Thankfully the damage is very little and it should be covered once in place.

Tyre tread is nice but need more clean up than I would like.

At some point in this kits life it was motorised. It would be to much work to change the diff/axles and re-shape the size of the left hand wheel arch.

But will fill in the 3 smaller openings and just to make it a little bit better will also fill in the wheel arch opening.

The missing piece of muffler might get changed.... not decided on that yet.

The cabin has no floor lining so I will be making some to cover up what every was being tried here.

Decided to do my first sun roof option. Just used my newly made DIY scribe.

3 small openings now filled in. Recycled the cut out sun roof sheet, it was the perfect thickness. :D

Some floor sections made out of 0.75 Evergreen sheet.

Interesting kit
I think it needs a big rear wing and maybe some stickers....those both add horsepower ;)

I like your thinking but this time around I am going to be very boring and keep it very plain. :?

They make a "Cedric" which is my son's name...Cedric is about the most dreary boring car you have seen in your whole life
So of course I want to get that kit for him
