Howdy from the wild, Missouri Ozarks . . .

Post by walklong »

Howdy and TY for the add . . .

Got here by way of watching YT vids for model building.

I've come back around to this hobby by way of unearthing several kits I gathered along the way: worked as a commercial pilot for many years and picked up some models of aircraft I've actually flown in 1:1 scale. (TA-4J (as a Navy midshipman), Lockheed L-18, Beech 18, Twin Otter, DC 3 - along with the usual Cessna and Piper selections). Have been carting these things around for many years and now, find I have some time and the resources to actually get engaged in building and finishing them.

As many others, I built my share of fire-cracker fodder in my early years - mostly WW2 aircraft then, and I had a LOT of fun as a kid building the Monogram AFVs - half-tracks, the jeep and towed 37 mm AT gun - good thing none of that survived to the present day - probably have to kill myself in shame. :o

Anyway, I have myself a couple airbrushes and a compressor, some paint and some glue and a batch of eBay kits to practice on (an Eastern Express T34/85 just arrived - what a bizarre kit, but should be a great subject for exercising the model building muscles!) Looking forward to sharing my adventures (and misadventures) with the community - the technology that makes this work has shrunk the world far smaller than most of us realize and it's an awesome opportunity for friendship and learning.

Hello
You have no idea how hard it is for me to not post the Bugs Bunny vacation in the Ozarks episode to welcome you properly, but I don't know you well enough yet to see if you have a sense of humour or not and that might be insulting and yet I think I kinda did that already. Uh ya, Hi :shifty:

Spent seven years in the US Navy - not much left to be insulted about, so if you want to go out hunting wabbits in the great, white North, I'll be wery, wery quiet . . . eh?
