Mask for airbrusing

So i have been using for some 3 years now this mask:



The 3M 4279

It's a no maintnance mask, so i wonder when i should replace it.

i have seen some modellers use masks with replacable filters so i'm wondering if thats a better alternative.

i use mainly acrilics (vallejo for the time being) but as i am asmathic i can be too carefull of what i breathe in.

So what do you guys recomend for airbrishing masks? How long do you keep the filters and such?

Most of these types come with a recommended use and replacement lifespan.
Typical is about 3-6 months depending on what you're spraying, filtering through it, this will assume moderate daily use also, so assume say 3 months for daily heavy use and 6 for irregular, using acrylics, if water based like vallejo etc you should be ok for quite a bit longer, alcohol based ones maybe a little longer that 6 months all in BUT if you can smell or taste what you're spraying then it's way past its usefulness and needs replacement.
I use one with replaceable canisters and personally think they're a good idea but then mine has a removable and washable face seal portion too so it's about balancing the cost of the unit and replacement fioters against a complete replaceable unit like yours and see if it's more cost effective for you.

it smells a lot of window cleaner that for sometime i used to clean my airbrush

Works real well and should last a long time. It comes with four filters, two for each side. I just stack them on top of one another and can't smell a thing. I went with a Medium size as its better to be too small than too big. Fits snugly and am glad I bought it.

well my SWMBO already thinks i'm crazy and mentally aged 11 or something but this mask is going a bit overboard

seems confy for WWI trench warfare though.
