Zimmerit???

Post by Cymru »

I am building an initial production DAK Tiger I. My question is, did these have Zimmerit on or not?

Zimmerit was only applied on German tanks in late 1943, some months after the Battle of Kursk. As a general rule only mid and late tigers MUST have Zimmerit.

E: And tanks in Africa most certainly did NOT have Zimmerit ever.

And technically they weren’t in the DAK, they were in the 5th Panzer Army but that’s a whole different story

Oh, I didn't remember that. I remember wondering why there were no palm trees on Tigers, I think it's my favorite unit insignia from WW2.

Almost, as the British countered with the desert rats insignia!
