Howdy all!

Finished up this kit. Great fun, builds incredibly fast! Learned a lot about video shooting during the build. I think I'll keep making videos!

Ooh very menacing, Is it just me or does the interceptor look like a bat?! I like the more dark finish you've done. As for something to build, This little chap needs a Star Destroyer to go home to...

Dig the go-fast stripes and darker tone. I struggle with what to do with the TIE in my stash, build her straight or make it custom. I mean, I'm sure some ended up in the hands of non-imperials...

I love the Interceptor. Its like the manufacturer decided they needed a TIE fighter where the pilot could actually see what was going on!

Really nice surface detail and paint finish. Forgive my ignorance but what's the story behind the red flash?

Some dude named Baron Soontir Fel flew with them. Basically the antithesis of Rogue Squadron. He was a cool dude for the Star Wars EU. Here is a link to the wookiepedia. http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/181st_Im ... ghter_Wing Warning: spoilers to the Michael Stackpole Rogue Squadron stories in it. Just a guy with the force of his being formed the 181st into a hard combat team.

But we all know that Robin was a fighter pilots' fighter pilot. That guy was awesome. I've read stories where he didn't claim Mig kills so he could stay in country longer and accredited his wingmen with them. Also, the dude had a grandiose mustache.

Additionally, if you' haven't read Robins book I highly recommend it. It's called, Fighter Pilot: The Memoirs of Legendary Ace Robin Olds. There are several other books I recommend as well.

War for The Hell of it: A Fighter Pilot's View of Vietnam, a deeply personal account of all the fun I had losing the Vietnam War is one of them with a bit more cynical look at the war. The Hunter Killers: The Extraordinary Story of the First Wild Weasels, the Band of Maverick Aviators Who Flew the Most Dangerous Missions of the Vietnam War and First In, Last Out: Stories by The Wild Weasels are two books that will give you a new respect for those dudes who flew against the first SAM's. Especially how the contracters worked with the aircrew to get the technology correct and out there to combat the SAM threat. It's an incredible story. There is a two part video about the same thing called First In...Last Out on Youtube. It is just incredible what those guys did. Seriously impressive. These guys were coming up with new technology and moving so quickly that early contracts were literally a poloroid of a signed chalk board to suffice as a contract. Some serious good reads.

Cool. Thanks for the great reply! I haven't really got into the expanded SW universe. And thanks for the stuff about Robin Olds too. He looks like a proper fighter jock.

Wasn't he the guy who came up with the F4 / F105 ambush missions with the F4s pretending to be Thuds? Saw a program on it recently. Amazing guy.
