Scrap Car + Dio

Post by hansolo »

Hi guys,

At the end of the year one more little project initiated.
By lack of kits :wtf: and waiting for several new kits to arrive - planned 2 new conversion projects -
I smashed something together form leftovers.
I built a imaginary german car mostly resembling a Protze because of the use of it's hood. :th:
Partly comprised of leftover parts and partly scratch built.

Here is my scrap yard.

Image

I started of with a floor plate to put the Protze front and the suspension of a german cart together.

Image

Here are the front and back attached to the floor plate.
I added the dashboard of a Sdkfz. 250.

Image

Front wheels with front sprue-axle.

Image

The sides are taken from an 8Ton halftrack and the back plate I quess from a Stuart...

Image

Added a lot of details and stowage. And added a figure, frankensteined together.

Image

Image

I even wanted to build a small dio for this guy.
I figured - since this is an open vehicle - that a Tunisian scene would be nice.
As an eye catcher I thought of an aquaduct ruïne.
Built one from plaster.

First of: the mould.

Image

The plaster with some pigments.

Image

Plaster applied.

Image

Out of the mould.

Image

And sculpted.

Image

Image

That's it for now, folks.
Next up: Painting and more dio work.
Cheers

Update

Post by hansolo »

Hi guys,

Did some painting on the model and the figure and some painting and work on the dio.

First I painted the ruïne with black primer. And gav it a gloss coat and a flat coat for protection.

Image

Than I painted it a sand color.

Image

Gave it a dark wash and did the cracks with grey pigment. Sealed it with thinner.

Image

Did some dry brushing with a light sand color and did some sponge stippling with dark earth and green.
And glued some little tuffs of static grass here and there.

Screwed it to the base. Gave the base a little knoll.

Image

Did the ground work with clay.

Image

So far the base.

Primed the car.

Image

Dark German grey.

Image

Hairspray.

Image

Tamiya's sand color.

Image

Chipped with a watery brush.

Image

Primed the figure.

Image

Dak uniform color.

Image

That's it for now, folks.
UP next: More painting and weathering and more work on the dio.
Cheers

Update

Post by hansolo »

Hi guys,

Next update.

I finished painting the figure. Effects were done with Vallejo Dark washes and some dry brushing.

Image

Here's the car. Chipped, details painted, but not yet weathered.

Image

Masked the base before pouring the sand-glue-water mix.

Image

The sand-glue-water mix.

Image

Poured the mix, sprinkled some dry sand across and around the pillar some of the debris from sculpting the aquaduct.

Image

That's it again.
Next up: Weathering of the car and more work on de dio.

Update

Post by hansolo »

Hi guys,

Small update.

I finished the dio (unless I decide at a later moment to do more to it).
I added a plant to the side of the ruïne. From roots and some foam foliage.
I spray painted the ground and added some small shrubs. Painted those as well to blend them with the sand.

Image

Did some oil paint rendering on the car and added decals.
More weathering to be done to the car. More dirt and decay and some dust to blend it with it's surroundings.

Image

Image

That's it for now.
Cheers
