Lets see your modelling work areas

Well I finally got the rest of my stuff in the mail and my new setup is complete, for now. It's a modest bench, especially after seeing some of the others here on this thread. I wish I had the space and money to expand into something more professional like some of you guys have done but I'll make do with what I have.

I was able to save some of my modeling equipment like the compressor and airbrush. I'm sporting a TCP Global TC-20T compressor and a Badger Renegade Velocity airbrush. All bought from TCP Global. Good company. My blue toolbox on the right, which I've had forever, has all my paints, sanding sticks and other various tools one needs in the hobby. Also on my bench is my first "Welcome Back!" kit, the Zaku II in "Real Grade" molding.

Anyways, without further ado, I present my workbench area!

That's a great kit, btw. Built it last year and am thinking of getting a second.

Spent the afternoon with Hanna painting the paint shelves in the cave, wanted to do this since the day i built the cave but never got around to doing it. 2 bottles of Ultimate Gloss black primer (Yes Ultimate primer did a great job, brushed on and sprayed (outdoors) through the Mr hobby Ps-290 airbrush.\

Been making a few changes to the bench. Most noticeable painted everything grey which I don't think was the best colour. After losing a couple grey parts on there haha.

Tiny workspace built from an Ikea desk. needed it to be able to close so the cats wont go ham on everything.
On my way to remove the shelves inside of it and put 2 Ammo by Mig paint storage racks there instead. one for tamiya sized bottles and one for vallejo.

Using the likes of flickr is better for sharing pictures on a forum. It’s free and easy to use.

There is still some work to do - new, longer ducting is on its way as the spray booth is now too far from the window and I also need to think about getting a couple of the lights many around here have, but this is near enough the finished article I have a job interview next Thursday that will take up my free time for the next week, but I can't wait to get up there after that

I do intend to start building armour at some point, but planes were always my main interest, even as a kid, and there are still so many on my wishlist

Been making a few changes to the workbench. I built an extension to the desk which now allows me to sit at the spray booth properly. Also built the grey set of draws for more storage and have been adding some new led strips.

Oh dear...
People like this make me feel sane and not a beginner hoarder at all! No matter what you do, there's always someone better/worse than you.

My two sons are autistic and they both display the "collector syndrome", i.e. they go "all in" for something and stick hard to it.
Instead of limiting this I've actively encouraged them to chase whatever dream they have because it's what matters to them.
The youngest one were collecting plush toys when he was younger so he's got every Super Mario and Angry Birds plush toys there are - including the ultra rare ones and the pirate ones from obscure places in China... Luckily he has stopped now but it was partly because there simply were no more made. He's got almost 100 different ones - all in his bed...

The oldest son is currently "collecting" camo uniforms/clothes. He's really into hiding for some reason so we've built a couple ghillie suits for him in the past and now he's discovered that you can buy surplus gear from Russia so he's got quite a few older uniforms now, and all sorts of 3D camo gear for hunting.

I think all men, to a certain extent, have got the hoarder gene to some level and some are simply just never told to stop

My guess is that it's real. A photoshop version would be more extreme and not a neat.

I did a reverse image search and found the guy. Allen Chiu from Taiwan.
He uploaded the photo to a "biggest stash competition" on AK's Facebook so it's real. He had several pictures of parts of his stash but if it's just his private stash or he's running a shop I can't say...

...still makes most of us look like amateurs and perfectly sane!

Are you always keeping it this tidy or is it just a snapshot before things get naturally cluttered?

I'm not a tidy person at all and in fact I prefer to live in an organised chaos, that's just how my brain works.
I do wish I could be the tidy one when I see photos like this but I know within 5 minutes things start to bog down...
Oddly I'm super pedantic and OCD when it comes to cleaning my tools and where every little bit resides - but in between all these places there's not many inches of unused areas! I just see every horizontal surface as great for storage...

One day when my new modelling area is finished I'm going to take a photo before I begin to clutter it down, as a small memory of what it looked like before, hoping I can trick someone to believe that's what it looks like!
