Tamiya 1/48 Lancaster SIG interest

Post by Mylightweight »

Right then boys and girls, I'm thinking of doing a 1/48 Tamiya Lancaster SIG.
I need to know who if anyone is interested, leave a reply saying "I'm in or something similar.

If there's enough interest I'll get it sorted out.

Cheers

I don't know, isn't there like... ehm .. one colour scheme for Lancasters?
Would mean that they all will be the same...

So tempting, I crave a Tamiya Lancaster, I do believe my life would be far more fulfilled owning a Tamiya Lancaster

But which would I do?

No worries Paul,
Smiffy, your life WOULD be more fulfilled

I was thinking of starting 1/9/17 for 9 months, anything goes in terms of after market stuff and super detailing etc.

The only rules are 1/48 scale Lancasters made by Tamiya

The more the merrier

Don't encourage me  I'm in with the first of September for a start date, means I have time to convince the family to buy me a Tamiya Lancaster to fulfill and complete my life.

Doesn't it just, I've always been fond of that RCAF Transport Command paintjob of white over natural metal with the red and while flash dividing the two. Though for me I would have to do the Bomber Command DG/DE over Night. Unless of course I had two then I could do the RCAF one too :eeek:

Although I wouldn't take part as this kit has always been something I am aspiring to and want to take on once I feel I've mastered a few more technique, I would certainly watch everyone with interested :)

As this build, with AM, represents an investment of £140 and a full bench until Sept, it was going to be a NO! Now you say it starts in Sept (empty bench) AND lasts for nine months, you can count me IN!

As a salesman would say - they saw you coming mate!

I'd be tempted myself but I made a vow yesterday - no more kits until I make some proper inroads into my current stash. :bash: Its not a huge pile but I'm aware of the need to apply myself while locking away the wallet for a while. :(
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

Which gun barrels are you going for?

I'm planning on using the Eduard interior detail set, aftermarket barrels, not sure which ones and some aftermarket wheels.

I'm building a Chastise Lanc so need to decide on a scheme too

As far as I'm aware no. I'm not ever sure if there's a conversion kit for it either? I'd imagine decals are out there though.

If you keep an eye out on eBay the kit comes on regularly and can be had for £40-£50 second hand, although one obviously needs to read the description carefully

JADLAM Racing has the Dambusters Grandslam Lancaster for £67 on ebay right now. Mighty tempting, though I want the B.I and B.III, really wish I knew if there were the parts for a "normal" Lancaster in the box too. Though at that price I'm almost tempted to get it any way. I hear my credit card weeping

Check this out for inspiration.

I first saw this guy's work on the Hellenic Modellers site. It seems to be down at the mo but I found his Lanc build on another forum.

NEVER seen anything like it. It is absolutely awesome, possibly the best work I have ever seen  :

With the end of the year coming up, a suggestion for Bomber sig or gb in 2018 might be appropriate
Widen the topic to all bombers so it nets more builders
