Broken Landing Gears

What do you do with broken landing gear? Saturday one of my sister's cats knocked over my model, which I found out when I got home from work. I tried to just glue it together, but that wouldn't work and possibly break later. So what I did was drill holes in the two pieces of the broken gear. I took one of my sister's sewing pins and glued it into one of the holes. All I have to do is cut the pin and glue it into the other piece. What are the ways you all go about fixing something like that?

The extent of the damage was the nose gear snapped off, and one of the horizontal tail planes broke off. The way my kit was set up was that the nose gear goes in before the nose fuselage part goes on so there is no way for me to put it in near the end unless I save putting all of the sub assemblies on at the last minute.

Maybe think about an after market set? I know some people make metal ones.

If you had a picture of the damage we may be able to give better tips and tricks.

Have used brass rods and made a new one...have to have some soldering ability though CA glue works ok too
Did that on a 1/72 Phantom last year

Here is the picture of the damage. I got the tail plane back on the model. As you can see I am in the process of repairing the gear.

My modelling space is set up by the window so that I can have ventilation, however due to space limitation in my room, it is out in the living room.

Yep, getting some mechanical retention and metal reinforcement will help
Always drives me nuts that often have to put in the landing gear early in an aircraft assembly...I bust them up
I want to make one of those cool adjustable airplane supports..or buy one

Next time you are at a hobby shop, have a look for a bag of offcuts of metal tubes and such...they are often cheap and have a huge assortment of useful shapes.
