1/35th Tamiya M10 Tank Destroyer

Post by ComradeBrad »

Just getting back into modelling after a few years. This is the first model I've ever air brushed. Put on the base coat and worked up a few highlights. Should have taken some more progress pics, but I decided to stop here and take a few pics. After taking these pics I put a gloss coat over everything and I'll start weathering, panel lining, and washing. Let me know what you think!

Looks great! The Sherman I’m working on is just olive drab so you have to do a lot more with color modulation and shadows. I tried to do an oil dot filter using oils from Walmart. Seems to have worked well, nice streaking effect.

Can’t wait to see the weathering. That’s probably been my favorite part.

I did the same thing for streaking last time I made a tank and it came out fine. Did the ol' walmart oils for streaking and for rust.

Great looking build - looking forward to seeing how you weather it up.

Looks like a really good paint job - you sure its your first go at airbrushing? :th: The tools look nicely done too.

Should be a great base to weather on.
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

It looks really great so far. Is this the older tamiya M10? Those tools on the rear plate look a bit flat, like they were molded on. Your paintjob is immaculate though.

So I did some weathering. Did some panel lining, added a dot filter with oil paints, then used pigments for the first time to do the rust, then used the Tamiya weathering effects to add soot to the barrel, then finished it off with some chipping effects using both the sponge and free hand. I think I messed up some spots with the chipping and it doesn't look as great as I had hoped. I will have to keep practicing it. All I have left is to do the tracks and add some mud.
