Flakpanzer Gepard desert camo scheme - help needed

Post by MrBowcat »

Hi guys,

I'm currently building the Meng Gepard. When I was researching paint schemes I came across mention of a German Army 3 colour desert camo scheme in relation to the Takom kit. Having a look at the instyuctions online I can't see any mention of this and I wondered if anyone had built this kit, and if so happened to know what colours were used?

Cheers in advance for any help.

Usually... Modern Geman Bundeswehr vehicles are painted in NATO 3 tone camouflage scheme...

From that scheme.... the Geman Bundeswehr "desert scheme" is derived from!
and if "expediently applied" in the field? 2nd line maintenance even!

Take any NATO 3 tone schemes on any German vehicles and replace all NATO black outlines with solid NATO Green and ALL NATO Green and NATO Brown outline ( combined ) and paint those in solid German Sand Beige color. so Modern Desert Geman Bundeswehr vehicles have 2 tones. at one point they had a 3rd shade of light brown but I think it has been dropped since.

and you would end up with a pretty accurate Desert Paint scheme for Afghanistan deployed vehicles... more research might be needed ?

Thanks for that. The paint scheme was apparently a one off for a vehicle tested in Cyprus, I haven't been able to find much info on it but have been looking at other Cypriot AFV's.
