William Clyde "Chase" Elliott II (born November 28, 1995) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He currently competes full-time in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series for Hendrick Motorsports. He is the son of 1988 Winston Cup Series champion Bill Elliott. He won the 2014 NASCAR Nationwide Series championship, becoming the first rookie to win a national series championship in NASCAR. In 2016 Chase joined the Sprint Cup Series driving the #24 Napa Auto Parts Chevrolet SS and won Rookie of the year.

In 2017 he qualified on the pole for the Daytona 500 for the second year in a row. He also qualified for the championship playoffs for the second time in his young career. Although he finished out the year in 5th place, he has yet to record a win at NASCAR's highest level. In 2018 he will change his number to #9 in honor of his father, Bill Elliott.

I am looking forward to building this kit. This is the first "modern" stock car that I have built since I was in my teens (1990s) so I am looking forward to seeing what is different with the newer cars and if they reflect those changes with these new kits.

Finally got to get the box open! There’s a lot of sprues in this kit but they are not individually labeled which makes building a little aggravating.





The clear parts feature pre-painted trim and bracing. I’ve never seen this before!



The decals look great!


The tires will look good after I scuff them up a bit.

I got some work done on the engine and a few parts on the chassis. I try to do as much building as possible before painting but looking at this roll cage I believe I will have to pre-paint the bars on this one.

Got a lot of prepainting done tonight. It’s hard to tell but the roll cage is light ghost grey (Model Masters Acrylic). Painted a few other parts as well including the engine (Ammo Aluminum)

Got the wheels and tires mounted and did a little weathering on the underside of the chassis and the engine. Hopefully I can get the body painted this weekend!

Finally got some paint on the body! Ultimate grey primer topped with Tamiya Blue.



Put some Future on and next will be decals!

Got the decals laid down with Micro Set/Sol and added a Model Master Acryl gloss coat. I’m calling this guy done!!
