Mig-31 BM/BSM mud guard

I am rebuilding the Mig-31 kit from AMK and I believe that I painted the mud guard on the nose wheel either Steel, Silver or Aluminum as it has been too long of a time gap. I don't know what the correct color is for the mud guard. While looking at reference photos of two different birds, one looked like it had the same color as the landing gear and the other one looked like it was steel. If any of you guys or gals know what the correct color is please let me know.
