Eduard Mig 21 hungarian flying bird

Hello all
Long time no post from me, not to say i haven't been busy but more just not finished much. Well im pleased to say that has changed as i have finished my eduard mig 21. This was started for Andreas group build but as with all my builds it over ran.

So the build its self. The eduard is renowned to be the best mig 21 and it truly is such a wonderful kit. It all fitted together and needed only the two half of the top bulge for join gap filling and that was only a little. due too quite a lot of options most of the belly join was covered up. I added a Brassin resin cockpit which really helped with the cockpit detail, will defo get one of those again. The rest of the kit build was out the box.

Now on to the markings. Im not a big fan of metal finishes, this is not to say i don't like them but the extra work to get it good just all ways puts me off, i will do one in the future. As the boxing i purchased was for the hungarian air force i thought it worth while looking on HAD decals web site for some thing different and they didn't disappoint. The set i purchased gave me a version with a flag down the whole fuselage or the bird on the belly which is the one i chose. The whole bird on the belly was to be painted free hand so it did pose a whole load more challenges but its difference made it worth the extra work. While i was getting the decal schemes i also purchased there stencil set as my kit was a weekend variant and was missing what was needed.

The paints used was for the camo was my own mix of gunze thinned with Ultimate. The nose cone and antenna where painted with akan and same with the interior. gloss coat was Alclad aqua gloss and the matte coat was testers dull coat. weathering was a mix of ak panel liners and oil paints. I used the Transparent white to fade the top of the bulge and the flat areas of the wings

Paint camo and decals really stand out for me. Photography is pretty darn good as well.
I love the wings you hand painted on the belly

Wow. You've convinced me that I should splurge on an Eduard version. I'll even go for the profipack edition to save having to worry about aftermarket bits. Once again, Wow!
