Restoring anti-slip or diamond pattern on tanks

Post by TheNordus »

I've been working on this Panzer III Flamm tank and it called for you to remove detail from the front fenders, which led to also erasing hefty chunks of the anti-slip texture on the fenders in front of the front light bases. Do any of you have any helpful hints on how to maybe restore or cover up this error?

No sorry not a clue. Even if you laid very fine stretched sprue over it in the right pattern a very laborious labor that would be . Then melted it in with some cement it would still be noticeably not right I would think.

Saw this tip on Willem's build thread (apologies if I've got this wrong), but he used Milliput to make some seat cushions. He then rolled the handle of a craft knife across it to get the "criss-cross" pattern and it looked really effective. If you got a thin enough layer of Milliput, it might just work. Just a thought.

That's not half bad :th: ...getting it to match is the problem

Thanks for the replies guys. I also got a suggestion to get photo-etched fenders, but I don't think I wish to do it with this model. Unfortunately looks like I'll have to model some "battle damage" to the fenders and just cut off the smooth portions of the fenders.
