I've finally gone mad!!

Post by alextheblue »

I was reading someone's build log the other day (apologies, I can't remember whose it was  ) and they had done a brilliant job of building their subject and it was time to get it primed and painted. They made a comment about this particular stage of the build being a real mojo sapper and I couldn't help but notice that quite a few people make similar comments. Not always about painting, for different people, it's different things that turns them off their preferred hobby. And this got me thinking...............

How about a proper Group Build. Rather than lots of people all building separate models, why don't we get these same people to all build ONE model. People can volunteer to take care of a particular aspect of the project, scratch-building, PE, weathering etc., and as soon as they have finished with their bit, they send it on to the next person!! Genius!!!

A-hem!! I am being facetious of course, as this just wouldn't be practical. The logistics of it alone would be a nightmare and I suspect that people would spend more time fixing damage as a result of shipping rather than cracking on with their favourite part of the build.

Oh well, just a pie-in-the-sky idea, but you've got to admit, it does have it's merits. What better way to build a stronger sense of community than to have a model, or models that we have all built together!

I know that physicists have "tele-ported" an electron from one side of a lab to the other, if that could only be developed further, that would take care of the transport problem.................

I'll get my coat!!!  :ooops: :cheers2:

but I like doing it all!

Unless some one really enjoys filling and sanding...... then I could be persuaded.

Logistic nightmare indeed.
I cannot imagine shipping model all around half built...I break stuff in a seven minute drive from home to office where I display some built kits
Interesting idea. Yes you have gone mad :shifty:

Would that mean I could do something completely insignificant like unpacking the sprues and then send on to all you other genii and take credit for the finished work?

I like the sound of this!

Barry's only volunteered to be the tyre seam sander because he knows we're building a Panzer III.....
