Tiger Models AMX-30 B2 Brennus 1:35

Post by chops1sc »

So I decided to start this awesome looking tank that I won on the April (i think lol) giveaway! The first thing I noticed about this kit is the amount of detail. This is my first "modern" tank so I'm used to big, flat armor and to be honest I was a little intimidated at first. But the more I started looking over the sprues I realized this is going to be a great build.

Image

One of the first things I saw was this awesome molded-in metal barrel! I have never seen one like this!

Anyway, here's a few shots of the build. I am a little farther along than this but I forgot to take some pics of the latest progress.

I'm glad I got my mojo back. I guess airplanes just aren't my thing. I hate that I will be missing the deadline for the bomber build but when you just don't want to build it, its not going to happen.

Yeah planes aren't really my thing either, but I thought I would give it a go and though I have mucked it up big time I'm going to push through with it. BUT this is a beauty of a kit you have here, I'm sure it's going to be a cracker !

Yeah, I'm actually excited to build this one. I have shied away from "modern" tanks in the past but maybe this will open a new door for me in the hobby!

Very nice looking kit and you're doing a cracking job with it. Like you, I normally build older armour, WW2, Vietnam etc. ,but I've built a couple of modern tanks and have thoroughly enjoyed them.

Keep up the great work! :th: :th: :cheers2:

I got all of the model built with exception of the tracks which I will tackle sometime next week. I really enjoyed building this kit and I’ll probably be getting more like it in the future!

Got the tracks going! At first they were a little tricky but I got the hang of it.

I would love for someone to just dip a modern battle tank into a bucket of grime and mud for once, but you've done a good job regardless! Did the colouring instructions tell you to paint the wheels darker than the rest? Looks really interesting.

The instructions didn't really give any instruction for the wheels but the color paint guide showed all of the lower parts as black. I Painted the whole tank NATO black at first and I just kept them that way. I went back with Vallejo Black Grey for the wheel rubber and track pads. I plan to weather it some but I haven't had a chance to work on it. Hopefully tonight I will.

Looking really fine! How'd you manage to get the part of the tracks that gets rolled over by the wheels so clean of pigments?
