Good kits for beginners?

Hi!

Would anyone have any recommendations for kits that would be suitable for beginners, build and paint job wise? Ideally WW2 aircraft or vehicles but would be willing try other genres.

I've spent the last 3 years painting WW2 war game miniatures and have experience and understanding of air brushing, glues, paints, varnishes and weathering but seriously lack in build experience. I'd love to get into scale modelling as I love the detail you guys go into!

If you are into Star Wars at all, any of the newer Bandai kits is great build
X Wing for example

Unless they are re-boxes of other manufacturers...many 1/72 Tamiya plane kits are not real Tamiya moulds, just re-boxed other kits
So beware as those are often what beginners start with

I'd second Tamiya you can get some nice 1/48 aircraft and AFV for around £17 may be less.

Tamiya is great for beginners in 1/48 , 1/35, 1/32 scales , but don't over look some of the others Like Takom. Easy build and lots of great detail possibly a small step up from Tamiya. I recommend you use scalemates to check reviews of kits before you buy, it can save a lot of disappointment. A number of manufactures have both great kits and the so so's. Trumpeter have great series of KV tanks that cost peanuts, buy a new set of tracks and a metal barrel to really lift it as these are mostly old kits ( some new ones ) and you have a great result. the Tamiya 1/48 armour kits are very easy to build and make up into nice little models

Thanks for all the suggestions, Ill do some research.

I like the idea of a few upgrade parts, especially on tanks so will look into that as well.

Love Star wars and have a revel level 3 x-wing on the go and a finished snow speeder but found these kits to be even less challenging than war gaming pieces! Ill check out he Bandai ones.

Another vote for Tamiya 1/48 armour, great value and turn out great.

If you want a big challenge try the large part numbers on a Bronco kit OR a tank with a full interior from Miniart or Takom ( which I have yet to attempt ). You won't finish these very quickly...

I would go for a 90s release Tamiya 1/48 fighter plane like their P-51D Mustang. Easy to build, low part count but good detail and cheap on eBay.
