Cracked on with the cockpit tonight. Forgot what an older mould was like. Flash and ejector pins to sort before I started putting it together. Also got to fill the back of the seats.

Nice start mate - I've got one of these Hasecats tucked away in the stash too so will be interested to see how it comes together.
Cheers, Neil

So getting on with the cleaning up of the parts and test fitting. These Hasegawa kits are lovely but precise in there fit. Well used moulds mean that there is quite a bit of flash that needs cleaning. If you don’t then you will have fit problems. Also there are lots of ejector pin marks that I have removed with a chisel and the sanded flat. These again are in positions that affect the build. So clean them all up. It’s grinding work but as you can see when the pieces start going together it’s an impressive beast.

Really cool, looks great  :thumb2:
My Hasegawa F-18 seems to have really good fit as well
Bit surprised actually as it is better than the 1/72 Tamiya's

The 72nd Tamiya modern jets are mostly Italeri Reboxes.

The F-16 is gorgeous. That is their own tooling and its a cracker.

So been working on various bits and bobs tonight. Built the wings and primed the cockpit and other bits in Ultimate Black Primer. Got rid of the seem on the canopy. Going to paint the cockpit up tomorrow I get time.

So after building a bit today and finishing off the cockpit. I realised this kit is going to need some filler. Also, there are parts that are just over engineered. The gun Bay was in two pieces when it only needed to be one and due to the flash on the parts was a nightmare to put in!
But, it looks like a Tomcat and it’s Christmas!
