Hello From Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada

Post by Intrepid »

New member just introducing myself

Haven't modeled since i was a kid and now my wife suggested i find something to do to occupy my free time when i get it. She figured that it would be a nice cheap hobby to amuse myself with. Little did she know how much money a person could spend lol

I guess i should have been a bit more forthright in my introduction my main interest has always been 1:24 1:25 model cars mainly american

I am a foreman/Operator for a heavy construction outfit so my summer months are quite busy, i usually average around 75 hrs a week, but from November to march i don't have too much to do other than a bit of snow removal

So last spring i picked up a kit from a old friend and picked up a starter set of testors paints and a few brushes as well as a couple of rattle cans and sat down to put it together. Had it most of the way together and decided i may as well try to detail it a bit so i did some plug wires and such on it

So after this i decided i was done with rattle cans and bought a airbrush compressor kit on ebay, compressor has a seperate tank and it came with a Iwata HP CS , purchased a vallejo basic color kit and a few things of their primer (huge mistake) as well as a pretty good assortment of model master paints and a portable spray booth since i live in a apartment building then i bought a bunch of tools, files, saws, pin vise as well as a selection of CA's

so basically Amazon was my go to all summer when i had a few minutes of free time i purchased all of my supplies so i would be able to model all winter and not have to spend any money

have 25 or 26 kits in front of me, am almost finished a 1966 Ford Fairlane GT, if i could get the paint to lay down nice without any dust i would be set, I am new to airbrushing and am struggling a bit with it but have been able to get the primer to lay down nice and even and even had a decent turn out of the metallic blue i put on the fairlane but have too much dust in it for my liking so i am about to sand it down a bit and give it another top coat and see how it turns out

Came across the site from watching some of paul's video's on YouTube and even watched a live show this evening. Will enjoy meeting the community

Welcome!

Seems to be a hobby most take a 20 or 30 year break from, back in the day most were budget limited, now you can spend what you want (or what you hope she won't find out about) everyone is eye-sight limited.

Good hobby for Winnie, it keeps you out of both the winter and the mosquitoes. Stay warm.

Howdy and welcome to the foray... and keep those receipts from your purchases tight to your chest (smile).

What are your modeling interests?
