WnW Albatros D.V "Manfred von Richthofen" Scheme 1

Post by jbellos1 »

I say Scheme 1 since my intent is to complete all five MvR schemes given in the kit, by the end of this year.

I have all five WnW kits I need along with some aftermarket goodies I will note as the build progresses

So, onto this work in progress that I started just seven days ago (or so.)

Base colors, Mr Color C313, Yellow; Mr Color C43, Wood Brown; Tamiya XF76, Light Grey Green
Winsor Newton Artists' Oils used for the faux plywood effects - Burnt Umber and Yellow Ochre
Mr Color C48, Clear Yellow used alone to coat the plywood effect, then 4-5 drops of Tamiya X26, Clear Orange was mixed with the Clear Yellow and very lightly coated.

Airbrush - Badger Patriot 105, .3mm needle, @ 8-10 psi with a CO2 system.

All the Mr Color and Tamiya paints were thinned approximately 50/50 with regular lacquer thinner from the hardware store.
I used odorless mineral spirits, as necessary, with the oil paints.

The gages received extra detail with the Yahu YML3202 Gage set.
Very pleased with how they and the internal fuselage turned out.

I do like those gauges. The kit decals are great, but that is just outstanding. I hope you do not have the wing fitment issues that I ran into! I will be keeping an eye on this thread to see how it goes!
