I'm going to go against the flow here. I can see a lot of work went into this, but I'm not a real fan of the blue map background for all the forum pages or the initial Board index page. I find it not as sharp and a bit hard on the eyes.
Maybe it is just me and not liking change.

edit.. Asked my daughter what she thought of the look. She has a advertising/film back ground. Her first impression of the board index page was " looks text heavy ".

the individual topic pages where it says old or new at the beginning of the line. If the new icon could be in red. Not the whole thing just the inner text depicting old or new otherwise it kind of blends in.

You mean this. I can see the difference clear as anything

My first impression when I saw the new layout was - "Holy Shite, the forum have been hacked"

But change is good and the presentation of Recent posts on the frontpage is great!

However it is a bit cluttered I think. For example the icon with NEW and OLD is redundant - the information is already presented with a red "document" icon for new posts, or am I misunderstanding something?

*EDIT* Please ignore the comment above - when I looked at the icon I saw that there are other info as well (hot topic, pinned topic), just like before, but the design was changed...

Love the new look, I find it really accessible, but can imagine it being a tad harsh on the olde eyeballs if browsing for long periods of time.

Overarching feeling is how I love the forum’s openness in discussing all subjects ‘without prejudice’. Good on ya @digger303 , you tell ‘em what you think. Not everybody will agree but all feedback helps improve the overall experience in time.

I like the new look.

The one thing I would like changed is the location of the " Mark Forum Read ". It used to be at the top of the main page, but now it's at the very bottom. Is it possible to get it moved?

I certainly take all theses comments seriously. I think that there is still a bit of work to do. A live site with many users will always provide more feedback than a test site. So, keep the comments coming.

@Lee and I really put a lot of work into the Modeller’s Toolkit. This feature does more than any amount of makeup can accomplish; it sets our site apart from others. Please take a moment and put these apps though the ringer. I want our forum to provide more for modellers and make this the premier site for the hobby!

One thing I would change about the look and feel is that it looks very stripy due to every piece of text having a separate pale blue box. On certain pages it can be a bit much.

It looks like a lot of the responsive code (stuff that makes the site look right on mobile devices) is not working properly. I will spend some time working out the kinks for mobile users.

A lot of blue on blue as well. All the things I have spoken about is the visual effects the information layout is oodles better.
