Green Brass

Post by Strohmann »

Image

I found this at the bottom of my AM box. Most of the brass I have is Aber or Voyager which cleans up nicely with a 4000 polishing cloth. But this is solid green. I soaked it in vinegar and washed it off and tried polishing it but nothing changed. Can I still use it?

I would think it will be ok. But I think lemon juice and baking soda will remove it.

Maybe the lemon thing is just an old wives tail? Diggers idea is a good one, keep it simple!
But honestly, I had some that colour and I just painted over it, it’s still fine now and it must be over a year that I did it.

I gave it a good good over with 3600 micromesh cloth but the green remains. Airwaves brass is different than the others.

Thanks for the ideas.

I’ve used airwaves brass before and it had a dark blue coating. Wasn’t a problem taking primer & paint.

Has the brass been chemically treated with something to prevent corrosion?

I'm not sure. I'll have to have at it again on the weekend.
