Hello from Denmark

Post by theoneaeon »

Hi All,

A little introduction. My Name is Brian and i am hailing from the Capital of Denmark. I recently got the idea that I wanted to get back into moddeling after about 15 years. Not that I really left modelling, more like changed track over to wargaming and miniature painting. Not quite the same but still a bit of modelling :)
I started looking around my old stash and found a couple of kits I could start getting reacquainted with the hobby. This lead to looking on the interwebs to see if there where any new tips and tricks I could use.
The search lead me to Paul's quite good Subaru build and now Im sitting here and typing a introduction on this forum and discovering how many things I need to get to get back into building. Things like sanders, buffers and a new paint line for the cars I want to build.

Cheers,
Brian

Hello from across the pond, and welcome to the group. You are sounding like an auto person, what do you like to build? Do you have a preferred scale or brand?

Thanks for the welcome.

At the moment I'm in to cars. I had an old Pontiac Nascar #20 (2000) from monogram and a Dome-Zero from Fujimi that I started building up. Im on a little hold at the moment since I had a unwanted visitor over the Christmas. Were among other things I lost my Spraybooth and Compressor. So Im stalled at painting the bodyshell.

regards,
Brian

On the bright side I get to upgrade. I allready ordered a Benchvent BV300S-D Spray Booth. Now Im just looking for a new compressor. I think I'll go for a Bambi bb8 or somthing like it. I know it's a bit big but it has the power to run some airtools that a ordinary airbrush compressor dont.

I believe that I actually built both of those cars (?). Is the NASCAR the black "AT&T" or the orange "Home Depot" driven by Tony Stewart? Is the DOME car like the one below (old build in post race dirt)?

If so I really enjoyed building it as its very different, but most DOME cars are.

Either way, welcome to the forum, its nice to have another car person

I have a spray booth like that, no complaints after several years of usage. I can recommend you buy a couple of extra filters.

The Nascar is the "Home Depot" one. And yes the Dome is the one you made and I have seen it and I can say thast I will not be able to do nearly as good a job that you did.

I realy love your weathering. I have never been able to do weathering. Having trouple messing up a nice paintjob :ooops:

Thanks you but I am sure you can do better then that. Even if you choose to make it clean, it will be nice to see it. I think it was a really nice kit. Once again, welcome to the group....
