Yo Yo Yo Mo Fo.

Headed over to the forum for a change. Fancied that deeper experience, full immersion.

This week I have been mainly working on finishing the cockpit of the Tamiya 32nd A6M5 Zero. Took a while and I have really enjoyed working in the larger scale. The extra detail gives you a chance to try things that you would not normally be able to do in a smaller scale. Used XF-71 as the base colour and then Ultimate Black Gloss Primer with a selection of Model colour and Model Air pains to do the details. I especially like using tyre black for the chipping with a fine brush. The metal work is a combination of Vallejo Metal colour Matt Aluminium for the smaller stuff and AK Extreme Metal Matt Aluminium for the bigger parts like the oil tank. I have then gone on to weather with oils and used them in a thin wash and built it up. I have used Mig pigment on the cockpit floor and a set of HGW belts which are well worth the effort.

Hi all. Ive been working on my Tamiya Calsonic Nissan 1/24 scale
Primed with Badger Stynelrez White, Base Coat Decanted TS44 Brilliant Blue thinned with MR Hobby Levelling Thinner
Other paints used are Flat, Semigloss and Gloss Black Tamiya Lacquer thinned with Mr Hobby Levelling thinner also Vallejo Siver used in detail painting.

Got the Decals done and very pround of myself for not stuffing this up as I normally do, just took my time and also used Mocroscale SOL and SET.
Next is some 2K clear for the body and start finishing her up.

We're just over a month into 2019 and I've already finished 3 kits!
This has to go down as the best start to a year at the bench yet without a doubt!
This is the 1/72 Revell Tornado GR.1 painted in an early RAF grey scheme.
Very minimum filler and sanding needed, the main gear was a pain but otherwise a very enjoyable kit.
I used Vallejo Model Air Grey, Black, White and Silver and Hannants/Xtracrylix Satin Varnish as I wanted it to look new but not too shiny.
I did this for a colleague who didn't really fancy getting into modelling but his Mrs thought otherwise so I helped him out!
This will also be my send off to the awesome Tornado for next months retirement.

I spent some extra time modifying the overall build to add details and improve stability. I can't wait to paint this beauty. Have a great show!

Hello folks it doesent look like much but oh boy!
This is "just a week" of work on this wing of Revells He 219 in 32nd. I had to fill a lot of gaps and rescribe a lot of lost panel lines, also im glad i got big eds pe set as it would be hard to redo lost hatches and panels on the front of engine cover also Im concidering getting resin engine cowls as the one in the kit are horrible and need another ton of work but that would ramp up total price to the point of the zukei muras one. Now onto the right wing that looks much better in gap regard! As always have a nice weekend!

Aoshima Lamborghini Aventador Lp700-4. Painting for the second time as I mad a complete horlicks the first time. Primed with Ultimate White Primer, and with some artistic license painted it with Zero Paints Alpina Blue. All through the Ultimate APEX. Got one or two little paint spits on the first coat so will need to sand them down when the paint drys.

1/32 Trumpeter SBD-5/A-24B Dauntless.

Started way back in late June last year - cockpit and fuselage primed in Ultimate Grey and (in places) Black. MRP Paint used for the outside and Tamiya for the inside with Ultimate Dark Dirt wash and a mix of Earth/Mud and Light Dirt to emulate onshore ops on forward air bases. Abteilung 502 oils and some Mig Leaks and Stains and Engine Oils for weathering. First time use of E Z Line for the wires and it was amazingly easy to use. Canopies don't fit that well and several times I knocked the fiddly bits off - including snapping the pitot tube

Anyway, saga over and a huge thanks go to the guys in the hangouts for all the advice and coaching

Good evening

I have been working on this 1/48 F-117 for a while now, and progress has been very slow. It is the very nice Tamiya kit with a full CMK resin upgrade set (Wheels, Wheelbays, Bombbay and Cockpit) and Eduard Photo-Etch.
I really wanted to get something more than just a black plane out of this Kit, and therefore i decided to try to simulate a sort of "stressed skin", repainted panel kind of effect. This is seen on some of the later pictures of the stealth-fighter, where its not quite as new and prestine anymore, and some panels and parts have clearly been replaced or added during its service-life.
All done with Ultimate-Primer and a sh*t-ton of Tamiya masking-tape.
Although it's a nice kit, i am really glad to see the beginning of the end to this project.. Next step: Tuning in the dark grey/black paint for the final paint coat.

Here’s the latest project on my bench, the ancient Airfix Hawker Siddeley 125. I bought this in the 1980s for $5.50 but I see Airfix is going to re-release it, again. The kit will probably be the same but the decals and instructions will probably be improved, as will the price.

I’ve been hanging on to this kit in the hope of being able to make VH-CAO which flew for the Department of Civil Aviation in the 1960s and 1970s. It was the first aeroplane I flew in so it has special significance for me. Recently a friend in the Airliner-Civil Aviation Modeller group made the decals for it and sent me a set. So this kit has made it’s way onto my bench, at last.

So far? Well it is a 1960s kit, so it presents some problems ...

Fujimi 1/24 Mclaren MP4-12c, really enjoyed this kit, it went together with no real problems other than the carbon decals i added stopping the glue from sticking :/ It was bit fiddly in places but nothing too bad.

Once a month I help with a models for heroes session at the Royal Chelsea Hospital (Chelsea pensioners). We had some kits donated and no one took and fancy in the handley page so thought I could take a crack at it. It’s old and not for the unsteady hand. It will be brush painted and yes some rigging added

A & N Resin DAF transkit with Italeri donor (1/24)

Most of this week has been spent cleaning up the resin parts, the cab itself is a one piece casting, so the window apertures had to be cut out and cleaned up, this took most of 1 afternoon, all the rest of the resin had large casting nubs which had to be removed and lots of flash to deal with (there goes another afternoon), the parts also required a lot of fettling to create an accurate fit. Everything is now washed and ready for primer & fitting.
I also managed to get the sides of the Cartwright trailer cut out, these will be made up over the weekend, edging strips and some 200 rivets to be added
