Strela says hi

Post by Strela17 »

Hello everyone!

I'm a new user there, but a newbie in the modeling world, as I've been doing Soviet, Belgian and French infantry and tanks in 1/72 scale for a while. I've been satisfied with my works so far, but I wanted to start doing ships as well and, since I don't know anyone who does 20th century warships personally, I figured I'd go and search for a modeling community online... And here I am! I had already read a couple articles on there thanks to scalemates links, so I'm not entirely lost, either.
So, to make things simpler, I'm used to small scale tanks, and would like to do warships (I guess I'm going for 1/700 scale ones) that don't look terrible. My main areas of interest would be WW2 Japanese Navy and Cold War Soviets.

Have a nice day and thanks for having me there!

Thanks for the welcoming messages! I've heard only positive things about Combrig, but I think I'll start with a simpler (and cheaper) plastic injection model to get used to ship modelling. It will hurt less to mess up or end up not liking a plastic kit than an expensive resin one!

Hi Strela,
That does sound unusual to me at least. But welcome to our little corner of the modeling world. I would suggest you join Scalemates it'a fantastic resource updated by every day modelers such as us. It has a huge data base of kits. Find the subject your interested in do a search and all the manufacturers of that subject pop up and then you can zero in via the reviews to check them out. Hours of fun to be had. You can also keep a inventory of your growing stash as it does, what you have already built and your own gallery of completed subjects.
It also has a list of accessories for your ships as well to detail them up.
