Tamiya Spain's No. 1 MotoGP bike

Now that the Scooby safari WRC is done, I decided to jump on one of the many MotoGP bikes I have put back. Still waiting to get the funds for an airbrush and compressor, not to mention all the stuff that goes with it, mainly a paint booth.







Anyway, here's the start. This kit will be done with rattle cans and brushes as well.

Engine, frame and fuel assembly built and primed...







Most of the engine done, and the frame painted and on the jig.





Gonna try and take my time with this one, and thanks for looking!!

Oooo I haven’t seen the newest version then
I have not even tried out mine...I got it on the close out sale before he switched to the newer version

His new jigs are really boss!! All aluminum



Last model - discontinued



I wanted to get this one in blue/black, but sadly, it's been discontinued as well...



And back onto the model. I built up the exhaust and (tried to) remove all the seams, after that I got all the panels off the sprue and started cleaning them up . After looking at them and the way they need to be painted - well, it's gonna be a challenge to do this with rattle cans. May be some serious time between posts, I don't want to mess this one up as I've had this one for years and don't want to have to buy another one.

On your booth try a Bench Vent. You can se Lee’s review here on the forum. I’m a retired HVAC engineer so I know the number and spec’s and there’s are good. I ordered mine from Strike Force Hobbied out of Canada. They are the North America point for this. Just got my delivery date so that is all I can tell you

Been slowly working on this thing. It's coming along - just kind of annoying painting all these parts by rattle cans... enjoying it, but have already made a couple of faux paux's. Oh well.

Time for a lame update... I'm so slow and just doing other stuff. Enjoying when I get the chance to do some stuff though. I've made a couple of mistakes as well, mostly due to painting with the cans and not masking well enough. Anyway, doesn't look like much but I have quite a bit done (for me, especially).







You can see a little of my "amateur hour" mask job in this shot, although, the Frame came out really nice!





Got some more of the decals done, too.



I've really enjoyed this one so far, and hope to get some more done tomorrow. Need to finish detailing the handlebars and get the front end together, then I can attach the rear wheel to the swing arm and put it on the bike.

Little more progress. Missed painting a few small bits, so will work on those this weekend.

But getting there, at least she's got wheels & rubber now.

Little more progress, doesn't look like much - but for me this is pretty good.

Got all the "lines" done. Front & rear brake lines, throttle lines, and clutch cable. Also added the tank and seat portions. Getting pretty excited to get this one done, but still some work to do.



Thanks for being patient with my slow build progress. I've learned a lot with this one, some stuff for the next one which will help in the time it takes to build. I think I may try and do a Detail Up set with the next one.

Thanks for the kind words, Scott. And yeah, sounds about right, start out with, "I'm just gonna get this little bit done..." and four or five hours later I'm wondering why it's after 1:00 am! ?? Hopefully there will be at least one good side!

Awesome build on the bike Barry! the color and details look sweet!
Boy does the quote sound about right...... Chores what chores... Just got to fit that last panel or sand that last seam so I can prime later or paint that part......
