Fujimi 1/24 Gt-40 MkII

Post by Paul »

Classic race/road Buddy Build is now on :)

Any 1950's/60's or 70's road or race car, kit has to be unstarted and regular build updates shown on here and or the forum along the way.
Starts Today and ends 13th September at Midnight
I didn't think mine and Sams GT40's were going to turn up from the Far East for a while yet but here they are, bringing with them a nice £13.50 customs charge :/

I was going to do mine black but I'm going with red now and as the full range of the new Tamiya lacquer LP paints and thinners have arrived at www.umpretail.com it would be rude to not use them on this build :)

Tamiya Lp-21 Italian red and Lp-63 titanium gold down on the Fujimi Gt-40 body and wheels.
The Lp-21 sprayed amazing over the Tamiya pink primer just 4 coats covering fantastically. Thinned 60/40 Tamiya lacquer thinner to paint through the ultimate apex at 18psi
The Titanium gold went on great over Ultimate black primer agin covering with 4 light coats. Thinned 50/50 with Tamiya thinner through the apex again

Fujimi 1/24 Gt40, Decaled :)
I gave it a Tamiya LP9 Clearcoat last night to act as a barrier to stop the red leaching into the white decals and finished the decals this evening.
Great clear coat which could be easily made a very high shine ( I was just after a barrier coat), laid down well and dried fast and hard)

2k Cleared In Pro range 2K Clear
Sprayed through the Ultimate Apex airbrush (.35mm)

That body colour looks amazing, glowing red
Thoughts on the LP gold vs decanted TS gold?....I love the TS one how it sprays and the brilliance of the gold.
