Hello from Montana USA

Post by prowler83100 »

Good afternoon folks,

My name is Eric McCann and I live in Bozeman, Montana. I started modeling a little in the early 80's when I was a kid, however I was never really serious about it. About 7-8 years ago I got really big into racing RC cars and after a few years found out that I liked building/working and painting custom bodies for my RC's more than I liked racing them. At that time in my life I was living in Grand Junction Colorado and had gone down to visit my local hobby shop for some more RC parts and saw a couple of model kits on an end row and I thought, what the heck, I might as well try to build one as it would be fun to paint something from the outside instead of the inside like I did on my RC bodies. Well we can say I got hooked. I am not a quick builder as I only finish a few kits a year (mostly in the winter months when things are cold and snowing outside), but I sure have fun doing it. Over the past few years now I have found that I collect more kits then I can build (at last count I think I was around 150 kits or so). Luckily, my wife is ok with that as I tell her I am making sure that I will have something to do when I retire (lol I only have about 18 years to go). Anyway, I stumbled across ISM on Youtube on one of Paul's build threads which lead me to your Facebook page, which lead me here. So that's my model history; I look forward to learning more from you fine folks!

I just wanted to thank everyone for the warm welcome. Also just throwing it out there, I work in the steel and recycling industry and if anyone needs reference photos of equipment for weathering etc. I have excavators and the like in my yard that I can post. I also spent 8 years in the US Navy working on aircraft particularly EA-6B's, F/A-18 A-D's, F/A-18 E/F Superhornets, AV-8B Harriers, and AH-1W Cobra Helicopters. I was an AME so I worked on ejection seats etc. If any body has technical questions regarding modern US Navy aircraft I can usually answer them. Again thanks for the warm welcome!
