Hello from Bedfordshire, England

Post by neilstarkins »

Hi everyone.

My name is Neil and I have decided to have a go at a 1/24 car kit. I have never done scale modelling before so it will be a steep learning curve for me but I am looking forward to having a go.

I have watched some of the You Tube videos particularly Paul's excellent tutorial of the Subaru.

I have ordered some tools, paint and the Subaru model in the videos so I can re watch the videos and build my car as I go.

Already spent too much money but it's all part of the fun. I haven't committed to purchasing an airbrush yet as I want to get the hang of the building first. This first kit will be spray canned and hopefully it'll turn out OK.

Welcome and greetings from Bucks. :)

Welcome neil :hi: I see you've already had a look at Paul's videos which are a great resource for the modeller. Starting off can sometimes be frustrating so to help you along there's a great Facebook site: International Scale Modeller a live show on Friday nights with great laughs, tips and hints and even free prize draws: ISM Friday Night Live at the Bench and if you have a webcam and mike there's off-air hangouts where you can join live: Off Air Hangout Group. Three more locations where you can glean advice and remember, if you have a question just ask :th:

Neil,

Glad you made it in! Just remember no one takes themselves too seriously in here. I'd say we are all just a bunch of 12-year-olds, but there may be actual 12-year-olds here that would take offense. A hobby is meant to be fun, so we have fun (usually at another member's expense).

Thanks for the welcome.

Put my first order in for tools, paints and 1 kit so far. Spent too much and still need/want more stuff.
