That a great acquisition I've got a Sil Air 15A which is similar, no maintenance other than checking the oil level. For £50 or did you get it for free? It's most certainly worth it, you should be able to run any airbrush from it.

I've got 3 plumed into mine, it's almost silent (like a fridge) with just an exhaust once the tank is full.

You'll love it and wonder how on earth did you put up with your old unit enjoy

I work as a Facilities Manager at two schools here in the Midlands, and as part of the Summer works (Class-Rooms being moved, enlarged and used for different faculties), this unit,

became not required by school.
I offered the school £50, but then it had to be officially "Written Off".
Just found out this morning, this has been written off .
Its mine all mine (much rubbing of hands together ).
Now, need to download instructions (its Oil Lubricated, but annually serviced and Pressure Tested).
Is it worth the money?
Was this a shrewd move?
Will I be able to run my Apex A/B off this?

You’ve made out like a bandit there mate it’s a good compressor just watch for any oil in the air line paul had one a while back and had oil in the line that said he’s a modelling machine and used his daily it may pay you to get a clear air hose (if you haven’t already) just to keep an eye on it weather you are getting oil in the line or not,your a jammy so and so lol

Need some oil, but fired it up and it runs so quietly.

Well, this morning, having picked up our Toyota IQ from garage last night, after it had a new Clutch and a change of Rear Brakes (almost metal on metal, which is not good).
£540 lighter in pocket
Its strange how the decrease in performance, caused by the failing clutch, was hardly noticeable over the months.
We only realised the extent of the problem when the car made a squealing noise every time it was put into reverse (Clutch Plate Slipping).
The car is now as it was, when we first had it. Super nippy, and handles like a Go-Cart on rails. When you see a Toyota IQ on the road, check out the Drivers expression, and I'll guarantee they are smiling at the sheer audacity of the ride
The Bambi Compressor has with a bit of nervousness on my part, slipped into the boot (well no boot in IQ, just a large enough platform once Rear Seats are pushed down).
The missus made a comment last night about selling it............
Nope, i'm using it. But you already have a Compressor? Well, I need this as a spare.....when will the Other half's realise
I'll, hopefully get the A/B 2.5m Hose and adaptor by Friday from www.air-craft.net so I can trial it out in M/C.
I want to get a coat of Gloss Varnish on the Hull, Turret and Tracks of the M60A1 this weekend, so I an start applying the Filters.

My Father got into the habit of letting his foot rest on the clutch.....one day he barely got home. On dismantling the only thing that kept the clutch engaged was a huge pile of powder and fibre on the bottom of the housing. The whole clutch was ash.

Hi chaps

Short post tonight.
Waiting for Mrs DW to come home, and then its Pizza tonight boys
Took the new / old Bambi 24 Silent Compressor to Man-Cave this afternoon and positioned it on a spare few carpet tiles.
Quick Release connector rigged to trusty Apex and switched on.
Wow, its as noisy as the fridge which along with my tinnitus registers as zero noise.
Quickly up to pressure and off we go.

Not much modelling carried out tonight.
I, de-tacked some Tamiya Masking Tape ready for colouring. This will be for storage / Stowage straps.
Also started making sone Tarps out of foil.

My modelling desk at mo. The foam block, is my Chipping Foam, its holding the PE Brass sign I made up for last decal to be added.


I gave the Chassis / Hull, Tracks , Turret, Commanders Turret and all stowage a mist coat of Mr Hobby Clear Coat gloss varnish to seal decals, and ready for Ammo Mig Desert Yellow Filter. tomorrow.

No, you're absolutely right mate. Used it twice now and great constant pressure and so, so quiet.
Sunday morning comes around yet again, and as I slope off to Man-Cave in drizzle and cold, its lights on, heater on, kettle on, Compressor on, Extractor on and here we go.
First thing was to get a 2nd mist coat on tracks. they are now ready for washes and pigments.
Next, filters for main body, Turret and Commanders Turret.

Then onwards with a coat of Vallejo, Model Colour, Yellow Olive for the folded foil Tarp and the Masking Tape stowage straps, these will need second coats and some Dry-Brushing to highlight folds,

Then with Turret, Commanders Turret and Hull requiring a good 24hrs dry. I turned to the figures again.
Thought I would do a bit more super detailing on figures.
Added a thin wire from Headset down to intercom box. Not bad, even if I say myself with loop.
Then attached the previously mad "Springy" Intercom wires. These I plan to droop into inside of Turret when figure is placed in Cupola. The "Springy" wire is a wee bit out of scale , but I'm hoping with some paint and some Dry-Brushing, this should settle it into context.

Yesterday, I received these

The standard procedure is pin washes with oils, to accentuate panel lines, rivets and bolts on Armour.
I have used this process many times on Armour models, but for this kit, as I'm depicting it as a desert based model, I want to keep the weathering to a minimum, and where I do do it (Do Do ), I decided to go with these water-based washes. European Dust and Desert Dust, which I'm going to use around the lower hull, wheels and tracks.
I know Vallejo Washes get a bad press, but I find them very easy to use.
Moisten the brush. Really shake the bottle well to agitate the pigments (bad pigments ). Moisten the area your working on with water.
Apply around raised details, panel lines and rivets.
Leave to dry, then come back to area with clean moistened brush or Baby-Bud / Q-Tip, and work the colour till happy. Any cock-ups, just reapply.
I completed the Commanders Turret which was used as a test.
Then moved on to the Turret. As Turret is a complicated area due to R/A, I just took my time and did a section by section. One section was dotted and lined with the European Dust, then moved on to the next section. Then back to first with clean brush and works the area to get result.
My apologies, I haven't took any photos yet, as I was summoned from my modelling by "She who must be obeyed".
I'll try and get some photos tonight.
I have ordered via www.emodels.co.uk some AK Filters for figures, so hoping to get them soon, so I can finish off the figures.

Evening all

Hope you're all well?
So, tonight a little time in Man-Cave with the M60A1.
So Vallejo Wash in European Dust added on the other evening. so time to inspect and re-touch up if required.
On checking the Turret and Commanders Turret, very little touching up with a moist brush needed. Very pleased with the look.
Its very unforgiving, this Vallejo Wash. Mistakes, removed with water
So on with the pictures
First the Commanders Turret.




Little bit of Chipping in Vallejo Black carried out with Sponge Technique. Not much, just a bit.
Next we have the Main Turret, resplendent in Reactive Armour.

I had a little delivery today from the lovely chaps at www.emodels.com
A few extra spare rolls of Tamiya Masking Tape and some Tamiya Curvy Tape. Plus a Trumpeter Riveter. This is for my first attempt in 35 years of Aircraft building. Pray for me

I started tonight the Hull, with Vallejo Pin Wash and it really does "Pop" the detail out. Washes really do bring out details

It's starting to come alive now mate as for the washes while the Vallejo ones work I find Ultimate are a bit better as in you can use them wet then dry it out and use the pigment as dust and the like and you can mix them together to make up a custom wash but as said mate nice work

Sunday morning, must mean The Archers Omnibus and huge amounts of Glue and Paint.
I was building myself up for a really good session in the Man-Cave, and with Coffee a plenty and two Noggins of toasted bread and Black Cherry Jam, what could go wrong..........
Within seconds, Mr Cock-Up had glued on the wrong arms to the wrong figure. The arms were even labeled correctly, yet this one got them on wrong figure. The swearing probably could be heard from miles around
So, prized off and cleaned up, and a few more choice swear words, then Thick C/A and we got the arms positioned on right figure .
Talking of figures. I purchased again from the good folks of www.emodels.co.uk the following to finish off the figures.
This probably could be achieved with the appropriate Enamel and thinners. Some call these Glazes, some call these Filters, I just need a little help on my Shadows and Highlights

We'll see how this goes, in future posts.
Talking of figures, shall we have a butchers at what I have done this morning?
Built three figures from the Miniart set, but have decided to go for two instead. so assembled as per instructions and any cracks or filling carried out, then back-filled with paint. The intercom wires are Electrical wire taken apart and glued with Thick C/A.
Lets have a look at figures to date.



They look okay. Once Dry-Brushed and Filters added, they should look good for job.
The lower Hull has had the tracks added.
A new one for me. They are the Rubber Band style, but not with the usual horrible fixings which means staples or C/A. These have a single metal pin that slots through hole and joins two ends, looks okay and went together, with a bit of manipulation and brute force, well.

The rear engine deck and outtakes have had some Black Soot from Ammo smeared in orifices (ooh Matron).


Some of the kit supplied Water Jerry Cans added to Turret Basket.


Then a few pieces of stowage added in the form of Water and Oil stowage and 40mm Ammo Cases.

I also bought these items for a Dio forming in head
Both from Mig Productions.

The said pallets assembled and Arab Shepherd also assembled. These have now had Halfords Grey Primer from Rattle Can added.
