Tamiya 1/12 Porsche 934 'Yagermeister'

Post by Hawkmoon »

 Going to start this baby it will an out of box build with scratch additions like wiring ect. I have already striped the chrome parts and tidied up the mould seams on the main body.

Progress so far is the lower body tub has been cleaned up and assembled and ready for undercoating tomorrow.

 Today was spent preping the lower body tub. First a double check everything was ready then a coat of black primer inside and out. When it was dry the inside of the cockpit was sprayed semi gloss black.

When dry this was Masked off and then the rest of the tub sprayed with white undercoat. This will be left to cure for a couple of days then more prep before the top coats start to go on. :cheers2:

  The body had more prep where and if needed then four light Coates of Zero orange were applied.

Again the body was left to cure and then more prep where needed then the clear coat went on today. 8-)

:th: I like that colour. When I've seen that livery before it can seem a bit flat, but that really pops!

:th: Thanks for looking in and your comments Pete. I do like Zero paints but you never see the real colour until the 2K goes on as the base colour coat is like a semi matt when dry and every time I get that wow as it pops for the first time.

Some more pics now the masking is off   :cheers2:

Oh nice πŸ‘
Off to a cracking start HM.
I bought 3 TS rattle cans when i bought my own kit as i didnt know about Zero paints back them. Do you think 1 bottle of the Zero paint will be enough as i'll probably go down that road as well ?
Keep up the good work. I may not be that far behind you πŸ‘Œ

:cheers2: Thanks for looking in and your comments John and John.

I have used about a quarter of a 60ml jar so far on the lower body and still have the rest of the upper body to spray. Also remember that the inside of the upper body will need to be sprayed the same colour too as its a striped down racer.

If I'm careful I could just about get away with one pot of paint but just in case I always buy 2. I have had to wait for paint too many times now having run out with just a little bit left to spray.

Its also a big body and will eat paint.

For ages I had the same problem with Alclad metals but I then found I was trying to do it too quick by laying down too much in one go the secret is to do it in mist coats slowly building up the paint. But beware you can still over do it so be careful.

Also for a different finish I sometimes use a semi gloss black rather than a full gloss black the small oil tank on the left hand side was undercoated with full gloss black whilst the large fuel tank had the semi gloss treatment. Both were sprayed with Alclad Aircraft Aluminium but the fuel tank has a darker finish to the shinier oil tank.

A black wash has also been applied to bring out the high lights too.

  The seat was sprayed up and fitted along with the roll cage. The seat belts were then added. The upper body work has been prepped and then sprayed with undercoat. Next some rubbing back and the white undercoat will go on.

  The wheel rims have been sprayed with Vallejo liquid gold on the inner halves and liquid silver on the outer rims, these were then joined together and are now ready for a clear coat.

The upper body parts were rubbed back and then given a couple of coats of white primer. After a clean up where needed when the paint was dry the Orange went on. The main body was sprayed inside and out and where needed on the doors, front fender, hood and boot.

The sprayed parts will be checked in good light to ensure I have an even colour coating then any rectification needed before the decals are added and then its clear coat time.

Hi Pete thanks for looking in and your comments :cheers2:

The wheel hubs in the kit are supplied in two parts an inner and an outer for each hub so it was easy enough to spray the inner's gold and the outer's silver then glue them together when dry. :th:
